I like that he didn't come back. That really makes the song for me. I'm just imagining someone standing on a porch scratching their head waiting for him - and he long gone!

Yeah, I think we all feel like this sometimes! Very approachable.
Some nice lines in there:
Well I block my ears cuz the news is all insane
Trying to outrun crazy times
And a strong groov…

I'm guessing the "white noise" in the audio is to evoke radio static? For me personally that was a bit distracting. Perhaps something to have at the start for effect then fade out? But I like the rest of the music.

Your songs always put a smile on my face Guy!
It's amazing how complete this sounds with just you and the uke.

Django Reinhardt, a gypsy jazz guitarist of the 30s played with only two fingers and a thumb on his fretting hand. Had to find new ways to play chords. Legend of his day.

I don't know Elbow at all I'm afraid, but that's a cool song. Enjoyed my listen!

Love it. This one's a little bit meta! But at the same time it's engaging, and a call to action for the listener. Got a serious message behind that title.Lovely guitar work (as usual!) but a strong lyric too.
Very well done.

I always loved this one! A little bit special. Great to see it come around again.

That was so much fun, but still good musically too!
Very suitable for Halloween 😀

Sid, are you ok if I have a go at a different version of this?

Yep, that's a great story telling song.
I like how the rhyming scheme changes in lines 1 & 2 between verses 1 & 2. I'm not pointing that out to criticize, but as a lesson to others. Sometimes a little flexibility is a good thing to …

Wonderful! You've got a real mood and vibe going here, really dreamy and relaxed.
You play well and can sing too!
And welcome to the forum!
This is a lovely way to return to songwriting.

I think this one comes off particularly well RK.
I like how relationships are talked about indirectly through the ring.
And if flows really nicely.
In part C you might consider:

I hear this as a Country/Rock crossover, especially the chorus. Straight country is going to work as well.
You might consider one more 'devil' in that first line of the chorus and make it:
Devil eyes, devil eyes, gonna hurt ya with th…

I've only heard a few Townes Van Zandt songs, but I've enjoyed all of them - including this one!

You need a band. Your songs are there, but if you're trying to sell them you need to bring them up a notch. On a commercial basis your competition is way ahead of you. But the songwriting is fine - you bring that to the table. You've got a distin…

That's a good one. I think the song itself is all there. It's begging for drums and a full production but I know that's off your agenda in the short term.
Good stuff Rob!
You are most welcome to post comments or analysis of artists, or just a general "Hi" to the world here in the General Discussion area. Go ahead any time you want! But keep the Original Songs sections clear for songs to be reviewed (as you already…
The reveal in part C that it's the Earth and not a human mother referenced! I think that works well, and it immediately made me go back and re-read it from the start.
I also found myself falling into a rhythm reading the verses, and I alway…

I love how the video is presented as a film in a theater, and we are one of the audience! Really blurring the lines between the viewer and the medium!

That brought back a lot of memories!
It's a really interesting approach at the start. I thought you were going to do the whole song in that style at first, then you just kick it into gear.
It's a strong contrast. Was that the main ide…
