  • I didn't say you were , Kinda knew that it would go on a political song , they always do that

  • Well... it may be inevitable, but it's nothing to be afraid of.

Nope don't bother me , it's just a song . Youtube is filled with politics I avoid like the plague

  • I don't think there is anything wrong with posting political songs. It's on us to respond on how they work as songs, not on the merits of the ideas expressed, and make suggestions as to how they might be improved as songs, not to change his mind or win an argument. I say this as someone who disagrees with Tom on just about everything politically, but I admire his songwriting. This particular song is not one of his very best to my ears because, for me, even though I like the melody a lot, there is a bit of a mismatch between lyric and musical treatment. To me, the lyric calls for a more stirring accompaniment in keeping with its rather dramatic, anthemic quality.

  • Someone or everybody that commented ? More the later . Here's the problem , the melody is exactly like Times Are A changing By Dylan. I doubt Dylan is far right in Malibu . I don't care about politics really its a circus .

  • I agree, mostly. I think it's fair to comment on the content. I frown on conversations that become nasty, however.

The commentary, thus far, hasn't become too bad. It might have if Rainy didn't step in with his gentle reminder.

And as far as my musical treatment. I agree whole heartedly. I cannot produce the sound and production that rests in my imagination. It's a low-fi demo.

I went back to listen to "The Times Are A' Changing" and the first four lines of my melody is very close, but if you were to look at it mathematically, there are many nuance differences. The guitar chords are very different, as well. Ole Bob uses 7 chords in his first three lines, I use 3 in the first four. "Exact" No! Close? Yes!

Good thing I'm not going to make any money on this, hu?
