Macadam Bloom

This song has nothing to do with the debate of AI here, it is a social commentary on music and how every generation going back in time is always resistant to the new form, whatever that may be..

when I was into rock and grew my hair out, my father had an issue with that.. it wasn't country, he wanted me to cut my hair. Then I got into punk and cut my hair.. started to grow a mohawk, he an issue with that, it wasn't country, but I cut my hair like he requested.. can't please some people :)

[Verse 1]

In the midst of ancestral trees

Are hopeless gerons claiming sages

Who remain lost in dusty confines

Of tired, pitted rusty relic cages

[Chorus]

Wallowing in flowery fields

Of time, sounds of lyres echoing

In confines of mind and forever

Lost in mazes of iris and thyme

Is the pitiful,forlorned geron

[Verse 2]

The horizon births a new yellow dawn

Reflecting pretty multi-colored prisms

That send startled confused gerons,

Back into grandfather time imprisoned

[Chorus]

Wallowing in flowery fields

Of time, sounds of lyres echoing

In confines of mind and forever

Lost in mazes of iris and thyme

Is the pitiful,forlorned geron

[Verse 3]

A new geron's skipping on ivory paths

Following black ants parading in line

Behind a bandleaders wand waves time

To a wondrous buffet of musical divine

[Bridge]

Grand golden gilded doors open wide

To the new geron, his mind and soul

Surrounded in myriads of musicality

While tiptoeing through shattering molds

[Outro]

In fields of days gone by

Are sleeping dogs that lie

Awaken them and they cry

Bare teeth then frightly flies

Into past comforting ties

But that does not imply

On the past only we rely

  • Hey there...I was so hoping to hear your singing. This SUNO cut sounds like A.I. But it is pleasant and well produced.

Your lyrics are very poetic and rich with metaphors.

    Good stuff!

  • very profound, geron is a word from my distant past, probably makes me one!

Don't get Macadam Bloom Bill, Macadam as in blacktop?

Over my head with this one Bill, but nevertheless, thanks for sharing

    Sid

  • @sidshovel - Macadam Bloom means blooms rooted in concrete. another way of saying stuck in the past. maybe to clever.. thanks for the comment.

  • "Geron" is an unusual word, I couldn't even find that in the dictionary. I'm not against trying to pick the best word for the slot even if it's uncommon, but I think you will lose many people there.

I like the poetic style, but the meaning doesn't come across clearly to me. I would not know what the song was about except for your notes, and even reading them I find it difficult to map them to the lyric. I suspect that won't matter to you, staying true to your inner vision for the song is likely more important, but if you wish to convey that vision it could be an issue.

  • @RainyDayMan - geron is greek for old man roots in gerontology. I knew when writing this so abstractly, that I'd lose a lot of people. For now, I'll leave it as it is and maybe come back to it later.. Thanks for the comment

  • People are pretty simple minded on listening to songs , Its cool , I just don't get the meaning

    Well beats a Mullet Bill

  • Pretty melody. I'm not a huge fan of the lyric. It's decipherable with your intro, but it seems to be asking a lot of hard work for little reward from the listener, who is unlikely to care either way about the subject. Give them something they care about :)

  • @OnlyGavin - Thanks for the comment. I wrote this for a specific market.. it's not really wasn't for everybody.. I knew the reaction I would get.. it was written intentionally abstract..
