Cain

Inspired by the painting 'the first mourning' by William-Adolph Bouguereau. He painted that after the death of his son.. the scene depicts adam and eve grieving the loss of abel.

[Intro]

Dry, barren soil turns red

My son, what have you done?

A rock wrenched from angered hands

My son, My son, My son

[Verse 1]

Your brother lies at thy feet.

In silence, like the night

As equals you were treated

You felt wronged, never right.

[Verse 2]

Anger turns to sorrow and remorse

On my knees, I beg forgiveness

Forgive me, I know not my actions

I plead not for hate, but for kindness

[Chorus]

I know not, this rage inside

In my mind, the madness

in my heart, the hate

In my soul, the sadness

[Verse 3]

For kindness, there is no reward

Thou shall not kill, its' quoted

Blind jealousy you have sinned

In God's presence, tis noted

[Bridge]

A thunderous clap and bright light

From the heavens a vision unfolds

A divine figure clad in pure white,

Your eternal salvation he holds

[Chorus]

I know not, this rage inside

In my mind, the madness

In my heart, the hate

In my soul, the sadness

[Verse 4]

From sad eyes, my tears fall

As I weep at gods' feet

My mind was not my own,

In remorse my heart beats

[Verse 5]

Gods voice is soft yet stern

He speaks with great command

Your anger was not in control

For this, my judgment stands

[Chorus]

I know not, this rage inside

In my mind, the madness

In my heart, the hate

In my soul, the sadness

[Verse 6]

For this act, I decree

Please God, forgive me

Eternally bound to this mark

My soul, now never free

[Verse 7]

Forever to walk this earth

With this mark, I cannot die

Perpetually bound by chains

Oh god, my god, hear me cry

[Chorus]

I know not, this rage inside

In my mind, the madness

In my heart, the hate

In my soul, the sadness

[Verse 8]

A dark presence I feel

I must pay the toll

A deal signed in blood

This mark for my soul

[Outro]

Life is full of choices

Never knowing which is right

With every decision made

A balance of dark and light

  • @bhengen Whoa! Nice song my friend~ don't know if Cain was quite so remorseful, but I'd like to believe he, along with all people are; a nice dream. I also, once again enjoyed looking up the painting. Also, love your tag! Now for a listen, thx. for remembering to post song link later on. Again, intense goth! Love the drums and that haunted vocalist; she ROCKS!

By the way, what's your first name? Thanks!

    Renee

  • @HummerWisdom , thanks for the comment. I think any normal person would be remorseful coming out of a blind rage. my name is bill

  • @bhengen aka "Bill", yes, I believe Cain was remorseful to the degree of being exiled by God Almighty. Beyond that and to this day those with the Mark of Cain don't appear to be too remorseful. But I do like the dream as you've so eloquently depicted in your song.

  • This is a great song, storyline, music/vocals, I enjoyed it very much, well done.

    Constructive comment:

The narrator changes 3 times throughout the song, Adam/Eve--Cain--God, this can be confusing, it's best to try and stick with one POV, in the case of this scenario, third person would be best employed, I think.

  • @sidshovel , yes, I was concerned about that.. in my mind, however, I was thinking of a play set to music.. adam confronting cain, cain's anguish, then the god's wrath.. then he cain striking a deal with satan.

  • That would be great, like a biblical Goth opera. Setting the parts to different vocals would be the hard bit but manageable.

Love to hear that, great idea!

    Sid

  • @sidshovel so would I :)... not sure if I can do that in Suno... we'll see..
