The Sorceress

https://suno.com/song/eef009ba-4568-4806-a60a-2d80c5e95d26

Inspired from John William Waterhouse painting - Lady of Shalott

[Verse 1]

A pale woman with fiery red hair

Sitting forlorn in her pearl shell,

She floats on a misty emerald lake

Carefully weaving her magic spell

[Verse 2]

She found her love, her soulmate

But it didn't last, he was soon lost

To a deal made with a she-devil

His soul for riches was the cost

[Chorus]

The sorceress of the lake,

In the darkest depths she lays

She'll grant your wishes and desires,

But your soul is the price you pay

[Verse 3]

There's a loud roar of thunder

As she rises from the depths below,

A churning sound as the surface breaks

And the sorceress begins to glow

[Verse 4]

With a voice sharp and demanding

The sorceress asks, what is your desire?

My lovers' soul, the woman replies

Tis the only thing I require

[Chorus]

The sorceress of the lake,

In the darkest depths she lays

She'll grant your wishes and desires,

But your soul is the price you pay

[Verse 5]

This isn't anything new, she hisses

This path we've walked before

Nothing ever changes when the fool returns

He always opens the same door

[Verse 6]

The sorceress grants the woman's desire

And begins to chant, with eyes closed

A loud boom echoes throughout the sky

From the abyss his soul's exposed

[Chorus]

The sorceress of the lake,

In the darkest depths she lays

She'll grant your wishes and desires,

But your soul is the price you pay

[Outro]

A pale woman with fiery red hair

Sitting forlorn in her pearl shell,

She floats on a misty emerald lake

Carefully weaving her magic spell

Beautifully crafted song, @bhengen INTENSE! I wasn't too familiar with 'gothic' til you. I rather like it! Great singer. Who is she?

And I love that the painting inspired you to write this. I looked it up and saved the one from Deviant Art. It looks like this might be done by A.I. but it's stunning ===> https://www.deviantart.com/raeseddon2/art/The-Lady-of-Shalott-by-John-William-Waterhouse-969779341

    Thank you for this treat,

    Renee

  • Thanks Renee.. There is an AI app called suno, you just upload your lyrics and it creates the music..

  • I echo Renee, Fantasy/Gothic isn't my thing at all, but I have to say your song was an ear-opener.

Actually enjoyed it very much, lesson to be learned there.

Well done, thanks for posting and the free lesson.

  • @sidshovel thanks for the comment. glad you liked it.. i saw the painting, and thought she was pining for somebody, then as i went on, i changed it a repeating patter of the female cleaning up after the male, like Sisyphus.

  • Perhaps hints of Birth of Venus too, with the pearl shell and emerald lake?

Very strong visuals, and a good storyline.

Quiet poetic, and there's a couple of spots you might build on that:

    Sitting forlorn → Crouching forlorn

loud roar of thunder → peal of thunder

And the sorceress begins to glow → And her pale skin begins to glow

    You have such interesting lyrics!

  • thanks for the comment.. interesting, didn't think of venus, but I see that now :) pale skin begins to glow sounds better :) I was trying to emulate, lady of the lake by rainbow, ronnie james dio has such a way of words.

  • Incredible. The "atmosphere" created by the musical accompaniment totally makes this song. The vocal is soooooo perfectly in tune with this 'atmosphere' that the song as a whole is just extremely impactful. Literally takes over my mind and creates a fantasy worl inside my head. There have been well known songs that did this for me in my life, but the only ones that comes to mind are "Skating Away" by Jethro Tull, and "I'm your Captain" by Blues Traveler (I think it's by Blues Traveler." Your song is in pretty special company with just those two. LOVED this.

  • @Hardtwistmusic Thank, i really appreciate it. I'm glad my song evoked such comparisons.
