Go On Ahead
Hey there everyone.... It's been almost a year since I have recorded any of my songs. This is the latest write of among some 10 others I've written this year. As always, any and all comments are welcome, while first impressions are most welcome.
“Go On Ahead”

And if, by chance, you feel that I’d follow you blind
Over the cliff, with me right behind….
Go on ahead and make your case
Try to convince me with a straight face
Don’t mind my laughs
Oh, pretentious sage
I’m laughing at the curtains you peer through on stage
And if, by chance, you feel that by coming on strong
I’ll see the light and where I’ve gone wrong….
Go on ahead and make my day
Try to persuade me to try your way
Don’t mind my jeers
It’s all in good fun
Your odds of changing my mind are zero to none
And if, by chance, you feel that the mask you have on
Cleverly hides the face of your con
Go on ahead, give it your all
Make up and clown suit, juggle that ball
Don’t mind my back
As I walk away
I’m on to much better things. You have a nice day
And if, by chance, you feel that I’d follow you blind
Over the cliff, with me right behind….
You go on ahead

Thank you for posting, that was very good indeed.
Excellent lyrics and presentation, I enjoyed that song very much.
You used an unusual song structure for this but it worked extremely well.
I hope you decide to post more if this is an example of your talent.
Thank You
Sid

Great to hear you again Tom. Loving this like all your songs. I can imagine a full band version. So said, it works perfectly as is because you have a great voice and play a good guitar. Fabulous.😀

Up to your usual standard @IronKnee - really good back to basics music. Can't beat a good 1+1 and you're as good as any Tom. Your lyrics, as ever, are potent and pull the ear in a way a lot of lyrics don't.
All the best,
CCB

Dripping in sarcasm!
I was wondering why you were using "go on ahead" rather than "go right ahead", but the ending makes that clear!
Lovely pared back sound, though I wouldn't object to a bass in there too.
It's got a distinct sound and structure that works really well.
Good stuff.

Thanks for stopping by to have a listen, and thanks for the kind comment
Hi Chris...........I hear ya. And I hear some circus samples in there somewhere, too!
Nice hearing from you ;-)
Thanks!
You are too kind, but keep it coming...or should I say, go on ahead!
Thanks, again!
Thanks, Rainy!
And nice to hear from you, as well!

Hey Tom, it's the other Tom ;p. Your guitar work and storytelling have always been your trademark, and I can see that you've done it again wonderfully here. Really nice stripped back arrangement that puts the vocal front and center where it belongs. Like Chris said, I can hear this as a full band, or as a solo act, though even with a band, I feel like the music should be more to set the mood and let the story be told, kind of like Dylan. Anyways, awesome job here 👍️
