turn of a page

Turn of a page
Verse
I saw a willow bend in the wind.
I heard an oak tree snap and fall.
I read Jesus was a gentle man.
thought Richard Corey had it all.
Pre chorus
It’s no simple conclusion
Life’s an illusion it seems.
Chorus
Life isn’t as simple as it looks.
It can change with the turn of a page.
It can change with the turn of a page.
Verse
I saw a strong man bending a bar.
I saw a young girl break his heart.
I saw a painting by Picasso.
And wondered why it passed as art.
Pre chorus
It’s no simple conclusion
Life’s an illusion it seems.
Chorus
Life isn’t as simple as it looks.
It can change with the turn of a page.
It can change with the turn of a page.
Verse
I saw a wealthy man in his Benz.
I read the market took a fall.
I saw him on a corner begging.
Heard his maid the won power ball.
Pre chorus
It’s no simple conclusion
Life’s an illusion it seems.
Chorus
Life isn’t as simple as it looks.
It can change with the turn of a page.
It can change with the turn of a page.

Good, but too many simples, including the chorus. Line repeat doesn't seem to work, maybe something like "Doesn't get easier as you age"? for the second line.

    Still liked it though,

  • I'm wondering whether "simple" in the chorus is the best option, as it's not really the opposite of "change". Maybe "fixed" or "settled" or something like that? And you might consider prefacing the last line in the chorus with "Yes,.." just to add variation.

I like the "I saw", "I heard" etc, particularly in the 1st verse where you use 3 different ones.

And the conclusion / illusion works well in the pre-chorus.
