Old Gringo

I've been thinking about the plight of Mexicans for awhile and wrote this

Verse 1

They call him old gringo down by the line

Sunburned leather, lifetime of crime

Ran with wolves where the bad men eat

Now he walks that border on worn-out feet

Used to move weight through the desert night

Now it’s lost souls tryin’ to stay alive

Ghosts in the cab and dust in his throat

Trading bad money for a little hope

Pre

Ain’t no saint, he’ll say it straight

Just got tired of the mess he made

Chorus

They call him old gringo, don’t ask him why

Seen too much just to let folks die

Rides that line where the law don’t go

Half in the fire, half in the smoke

He ain’t saving the world, just doing his part

Cartel hands, contraband heart

If mercy’s a crime, then he’s guilty slow

They call him… old gringo

Verse 2

Radio crackles, “they won’t make dawn”

Family out there barely hangin’ on

So he kills the lights and loads that steel

Walks into hell with a broken deal

Knows them roads and the men that own ‘em

Knows who to pay and when to run ‘em

Every mile’s a debt he can’t outrun

But he keeps on driving ‘til the job gets done

Pre

Every step’s a line he burns

But some bridges ain’t worth the turn

Bridge (short, spoken feel)

Don’t talk sides, don’t wave no flag

Just sees a kid with a life they don’t have

Says “hell’s full… don’t need no more”

Then he opens that rusted door

Final Chorus (lift)

They call him old gringo, walking that wire

Between redemption and cartel fire

No badge, no name, no place to belong

Just rightin’ a little of what went wrong

If there’s a judge when the deal gets closed

He’ll stand there quiet… that’s all he knows

Did what he could where the devil roams…

They call him old gringo… bringin’ ‘em home

Almost sounds like something you'd hear in an old Eastwood movie.

    Thumbs up.

Well the cartel does have better looking wives , I think Clint's looking for a new one now at 92 or whatever. I'd hate to see there visa bills though . Till death do we part , When the next Drug lord takes over . you may now kiss the bride. Baby let's watch scar face , I love that movie . Just when I was getting settled in on this honeymoon , business steps in and I got kill Peppe his family and dog . Well church first , were very religious

  • I think that's a true statement. hitting the drug boats, isn't going to make a dent, just delay. they'll find a way.

Naw . Stop poverty you stop drugs , Well maybe , even then doubt it alot of money on that , For our Disco folks on Friday nights

Plus them corrupt politicians need a pay day . A $186.000 is not enough a year to do nothing , so let's give them a few mil more to do nothing . Vote for me next year I promise not to stop drugs , Little honesty goes a long way . Put a tax on it like Ovaltine . Well gave the Cartel an idea on shipping coke , in Ovaltine bottles. Nothing here mister DEA man , just flavory fun.

Let's end the jokes now , the wife might be frisky . We like that word in country songs

fixing poverty is a slippery slope. 😂

    The wealthy do drugs also.

The only way to fix humanity is by genetic alteration 😁

  • Well I'm out of jokes , ok genetic alteration it is
