It Ain't Your Imagination

Verse 1

There's a man still talking

'Bout the good old days

Like time froze up

And never changed

He's got yesterday playing

On a worn-out tape

While tomorrow's knocking

But it's getting late

Chorus

It ain't your imagination…

The future's already here

But everybody's still waiting

For the past to reappear

Nobody wants tomorrow

'Til yesterday disappears

Verse 2

Still talking yesterday

Like it's coming back

While tomorrow's rolling

Right down the track

You can hold on tight

To what you used to know

But the river keeps running

And it won't slow

Final Chorus (slightly lifted but still acoustic)

It ain't your imagination…

The future's already here

But everybody's still waiting

For the past to reappear

Nobody wants tomorrow

'Til yesterday disappears

And brother… these ain't the golden years

  • Interesting! Got a haunting feeling to it.

The chorus feels like it should swell to me. The vocal already builds there, but the instrumentation stays sparse. I think it should come in stronger, which would allow it to drop out at the end of the chorus too.

I guess we all hanker for the good old days, mostly forgetting the parts that weren't!

I was thinking leave it acoustic and not do the typical rise on chorus and break the rule of only 2 chorues

Maybe I could pull it off vocally . 3rd and 5th on harmony on chorus

  • Wow. Amazing lyrics.

Do you really want to go back to the good ole days?

    No indoor plumbing, no AC.

Nice song I think you could pull it off.

The structure vcvc has been done , but very rare . Nicky V in Nashville can do a double part on acoustic , So the 2nd part can lift it a tad

Ok I'll go for it Tex

    thanks
