Hey, what's that you said?
What you gonna do when they kick you out of bed?
Say what! Come again?
What you gonna do when the big man hauls you in?
You say that's nothing new
but what you gonna do when the hammer falls on you?
Well....you're gonna cry a lie
and you'll make some fool hearts weep
But gator tears are sly
Go on and cry
Hey, what's that you said?
Just let them eat cake, if they're running out of bread
Sat what! Come again?
You got your megaphone, and the press core's listening in
You say that's nothing new
but what you gonna do if the ink gets spilled on you?
Well....you're gonna cry a lie
and you'll make some fool hearts weep
But gator tears are sly
Go on and cry
A big shot. A fat cat
you keep your nails clipped and your cash in the laundromat
Say what! Now, come again?
There's no telling what kind of dirt your hands been in
You say that's nothing new
but what you gonna do when your whitewash launders you?
Well....you're gonna cry a lie
and you'll make some fool hearts weep
But gator tears are sly
Go on and cry

Bob Dylan like. Nice song.

Great groove! Like @Autopart101 I'm hearing a 60s protest vibe to this.
Love the vocal harmonies!

Very 1960's as has already been said. And, yes, the Dylan comparison is inevitable, though dare I say, you sing better than he does! I absolutely love this song. I'm playing it a second time as I write. Clever lyrics and some nice really harmonies. A terrific song😀

Good stuff. Definitely has a Dillon vibe. Lyrically and vocally.
Great guitar parts. I like the little hooks and the vocal harmonies.

Nice, and yes, it does recall Dylan quite a lot. Musically, I liked the verses better than the chorus, which didn't seem to flow as naturally as in your other songs. It seemed to stop and then start up again in a way that, to me, didn't seem to quite fit. Nobody else has commented on that, so it's probably just me :)

Hey thanks, samiamiamsam for the kind words.

Merry Christmas, Gavin.....and thanks for listening and commenting.
I'm not too sure with what you mean with the stop and go you speak of. You aren't the first to point that out. But I'm a bit befuddled.
The chorus is the best part....................................well, at least I think so 😋
Thanks and Merry Christmas, Andrea!
