Blame The Rich Man

Verse 1

Everybody’s yelling at the TV again

Talking ‘bout billionaires ruining men

Pointing at mansions up on the hill

While they’re three beers deep on a barroom bill

Saying life ain’t fair, the game’s all fixed

Somebody cheated and they got rich

But nobody mentions the cards they ran

Nah—it’s easier just to blame the rich man

Chorus

Blame the rich man, blame his cash

Blame his boat and his first-class pass

Blame the truck and the lakefront land

Blame the suit and the upper hand

Blame the breaks you never had

Blame the luck that drives you mad

It’s easier than a working plan

Just point your finger… blame the rich man

Verse 2

One guy’s working while the sun comes up

One guy’s complaining about his luck

One’s building something day by day

One’s waiting for a ship to come his way

Truth walks in but nobody stands

They’re busy cussing the rich man’s plans

If whining paid you’d all be grand

But it pays the same… blame the rich man

Bridge (funny spoken swing

If complaining was money

This bar’d be Wall Street

Half these boys would own the bank.

Final Chorus

Blame the rich man, blame his gold

Blame the stories you’ve been told

Blame the ladder you never climbed

Blame the clock, blame the time

But the mirror’s got a better plan

Most folks won’t understand

So raise your glass and raise your hand

And blame somebody… blame the rich man.

If whining paid, we’d all be rich men.”

I guess , I just got tired of songs blaming rich people lol. Not their fault . These San Fran city lawyers making 1500.00 a week .

Now why would they waste 8-years in school to make 15 a week ? Private practice is a mill a year and up.

Some grand scheme bs on right and wrong I guess . Then grow up . Hell with this let's make some bread off rich people , is my guess . Meaning mister city lawyers starting off in (cough) law .

want to make some serious money, either get into property and casualty or group health. Pa'ts client makes anywhere from $60K - $100k per month in commissions from the premiums. He actually owns the building in newport beach their office is in, include a dozen others :)

  • Yeah there's serious money to be made . I'm to old now with the wisdom to do anything about it

  • Musically it works... except...

A tenet of Outlaw Country is that songs tend to support the underdog. This is the opposite.

It is a fine song... my personal political opinion:

Billionaires have gamed the system and used their power and increasing influence to make it difficult for working people to survive. There is a class war going on - and the rich are waging it. They foment division and hate along cultural and racial lines so they can get bigger tax breaks and loosening of regulations that protect the little guy from exploitation.

From a musical standpoint, a song like Hank Jrs "A Country Boy Can Survive" carries the same message, but doesn't push billionaire messaging. Even something like "Rich Men North of Richmond" questions the power structure. This song says what is going on is A-OK.

They had to of worked hard to obtain the billions in the first place . Thats why I wrote to discern the typical bashing of rich people country songs . Olivers probably rich now , and we know Hank Jr is. No the idea is to be original and not follow trends. Like all the country songs on trucks bars and were all good ole boys.

its not bad song I guess

  • Ever heard Ann Richards description of George W Bush.. "he was born on third base and thought he hit a triple", or to quote Everlast - You know where it ends, yo, it usually depends on where you start

True... self made , or spoons like Trump . or Bush . I was thinking on Besos and guys like that Musk ect ... I'm sure power goes to everybody's head .

Epstein must have been smart , before he fell to sexual addictions

  • The obvious angle would have been to knock the rich , I went a 180 angle on it , praise the rich
