I think if you dropped Life! from the intro, the intro would make more of a statement. The music really fits the lyrics

Well I'm a sucker for finger picking so that got me in straight away.
It's a cool, funky rhythm. Really easy to get into. Got an upbeat, positive vibe to it.
The lyric itself has a relaxed, conversational style and again that fits really well to the music. Feels like we're just sitting down somewhere talking. But the content of the lyric is quite a contrast. It's more of a "they don't know me and they put me down but I'm going to succeed anyway" theme, or at least that's my take on it. I don't mind that contrast and I don't think it's a problem, but I can imagine someone getting off on the groove without actually taking in the meaning!
The repeats on the chorus work for you.

Like a soft hip hop, maybe theres another name for it.? I like the different sections keeps it interesting through out but still holds together as a cohesive song.
