On the wings of the crows

Crows and silence in wintertime are something special, I hope you like this new one.

It was cold,

a dog barked at the night

and the silence that remained

was still heavy.

It was cold

the snow that was falling

left flowers with thorns

on the wings of the crows

Black and white merged

and the coming dawn

gave them its grayish tone

from its early glass.

Everything and nothing came together

getting lost in the sky,

the sea and the air spoke to each other

and the silence that remained

was still heavy.

It was cold on either shore of waiting

the ghost of hope threw stones

into the water of indifference

but they barely made a sound

as they bounced

among frozen waves

and the silence that remained

was still heavy

I wanted to start the song with a snippet of a very well-known melody, Summer time, as a joke, since using that little piece of melody I'm saying, "It was cold... but then it's me and my own invention. The guitar is great here, yes, it's very easy to blacken. I like the contrast between the baroque instrumentation and the word silence. I like those things; I need to fill everything with sounds so I don't hear other things of mine inside.

Los cuervos!!! They are so smart animals!!! My pigeon lays eggs that I leave in the flowerpot at the entrance of my house for a magpie that lives in the area. The next day the egg is gone, but it has left me a twig of something, a button, a small piece of shiny fabric, a cigarette butt; it always leaves me a thank-you gift.

In difficult times for the soul, animals are sacred water.

Thank you for visiting me Elvis, much appreciated.

    Hola @StoneFlowers

Thank you for your lovely comment.

I heard a family of magpies talking to each other in the garden. Father, mother, and son, you can't imagine the gentleness and affection that pulsed in their voices. I never would have imagined that a car could sound like a lullaby.

    Gracias for you nice comment

hmm sounds like another song, another bird inspired song...chickadeedee

  • Might be interesting to try stopping the instrumentation at "silence" to really emphasize that, then bring it back in.

I particularly like "Black and white merged" referring to the crows and the snow. And it felt like an echo with "Everything and nothing came together"

I haven't experienced the kind of deep winter that this song describes, but it feels like a landscape drained of color.

Quién sabe? Who knows? Imagination walks by so many sits and knows so many souls here and there... Thank you for your kind comment, much appreciated @StoneFlowers

Well, look at that, I tried to find the right place for the silence to have its presence but... I haven't managed it, and every time I listen to the song again I still can't find that right place. LOL

Thanks for commenting, yes, those lines are interesting, I like the one about

"the ghost of hope threw stones

    into the water of indifference"

I think it's a powerful line with a very special meaning

  • A very nice track Mora. I like the way it builds and the production is awesome as always. You guys amaze me with your output. And it's all first class.

hola Chris, perdona el retraso, muchas gracias, I'm so immersed in myself that I'm stuck in a strange limbo, but everything happens in its own time, right?
