Hangin By A Thread
Got a good friend who went California dreamin years ago. Moved out to LA to make it as an actor, but became a bartender instead. He called me up recently saying...between the fires, earthquakes, crime, the bad air, the cost of living and his divorce, he’d had enough, he was headed back to New England.
Coincidentally as I was writing this song I happen to see this strange phenomena...a leaf dangling on a spider thread, appearing to defy gravity. Somehow these two things formed into this song...

Stumblin down a ripped up street
Void of humanity
The eyes of fear have mostly
Left this place ghostly
And run on and gone
Leavin me here thinking all alone
Not much left in this scene
It’s a place for restless feet
Got to move from what I see
Nothing left but at least I’m free
To walk on and find something less
Before I die in this burned out mess
The good times crashed in the quake
Still standing with a stare on my face
Yeah nothing left to be said
I’m dancing in the breeze hanging by a thread
Said hanging by a thread
The cries of a wasted dreams
Got no more skin in this game
Lost all my luck in the flames
When the wind started blowin
All that’s left is the going
To a new place where sweet water’s flowin
Down a burned and broken street
Keep your eyes down at your feet
Said the voice in my head
Dancing in the breeze dangling by a thread
I said dangling by a thread
Took a shot at LA life
Times up I’ve drank all mine
Just a little sip and a slip
I’m heading back to good times
Down on a hard road running
From a city shaking and burning
Yeah the good times torched in the fire
And the dreams smashed in the quake
There’s nothing left to be said
I’m dancing in the breeze
Hanging by a thread
Said hanging by a thread
Smoke in my throat and the ground is quaken
This city sure has been forsaken

Yep, that's a good line!
Like the guitar work on this too, gives it a city feel.
Good stuff! :)

Loved the lyric as it read. Now I'll go have a listen.

REALLY liked this with the instrumental. It seems you're doing a lot more than just one guy with a guitar now. If I remember right that was kind of your bread and butter when I first got here. This sounds like a whole band and the production/mixing sounds like a step forward. Great work.

@RainyDayMan Gracias mi amigo
@Hardtwistmusic Thanks for the great review...ya you right it's been just me and a guitar for a while. But some folks around here convinced me to start using a DAW. So I found a guy to teach me Logic Pro. Turns out he's a producer with a bunch of A list musician friends...what he and they have done to some of my songs is startling. The lead guitar player is insane...But, I'll still write play and sing just me and a guitar, like I bin doin since I was 15.
@ElvisNash Tanks Buddy. I'm actually a native Californian from the Bay Area. I get back for a visit every once in a while but I could never live there again. SF ain't the same beautiful city it once was.

I LOVED the "one guy with a guitar" sound. I'm loving the "full band sound." In fact I'm evious of you for finding friends to play your music with. Not a bad kind of envious. . . the kind where I'm happy for your good fortune, and wishing I could find some of that too. One comment I'll make is that having the wherewithal to do BOTH kinds of sound is wonderful. I hope you keep doing both.
