Song: "Shoulda Never Listened"
Asking me to believe in you was cruel (it was cruel).
Shoulda never listened. I was a fool. (I'm a fool)
Don't know what came over me.
A fool in love can hardly see. A fool in love is easily victimized.
Oh oh oh oh oh.
CHORUS
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened to you.
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. It's true.
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. Shoulda put up a better fight.
My friends all say "I told you so," and I know -- They were right.
BRIDGE:
Shoulda never listened. Baby I know.
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. I know.
Trusting you was never safe and I knew it.
Can't even say I I blew it. (I blew it.)
Totally irrational. Love makes us susceptible.
To decisions that look terrible in hindsight.
CHORUS
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened to you.
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. It's true.
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. Shoulda put up a better fight.
My friends all say "I told you so," and I know -- They were right.
BRIDGE:
Shoulda never listened. Baby I know it.
Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. Shoulda never listened. I know it.

@Hardtwistmusic - catchy beat. normally repetition only really works in techno, but it's working here.. gets stuck in your head in a good way.

Good song!
My favorite lines:
Don't know what came over me.
A fool in love can hardly see
followed by the one word I think you should change: "victimized", I think that's too strong, and borders on self pity and out of sync with the rest of the lyric. Maybe "compromised" if you particularly want the sound of it to be consistent?
And yes, the repetition is a feature in this song, not an issue. Which is why it's always better to hear a song than react purely to the lyric when possible.
Good stuff.

Yes, very retro. Nothing wrong with that. Nice arrangement and some great vocals. Great chord shifts too.
I love it...Radio ready!
Thumbs up from me too.😀

I write what I like to hear. . . so almost everything is going to sound "retro." This one is as close to "radio ready" as I've been able to get. Got help from a professional musician who has some sound engineering skills, and producer skills AND played most of the instruments. He tells me this is (in his opinion) "demo quality" not necessarily "radio quality." Thank you so much for the input and encouragement.

Beautiful song my friend. Heart break never grows old...especially when sung by a soulful convincing voice like yours...really nice job.
