  • Lyric for those who like to read and listen:

    [Verse]

The clock spins fast but the days move slow

A fire burns where the shadows grow

I touched the edge and it cut me deep

    But I can't stop

    I can't sleep

    [Chorus]

Find something you love and let it kill you

    Let it break you

    Let it thrill you

    Let it pull you under

    Drown in the blue

Find something you love and let it kill you

    [Verse 2]

The mirror cracks when I meet its eyes

Truth tastes bitter but it's sweet in disguise

    I chase the rush

    I crave the fall

    It's heaven's whisper or the devil's call

    [Pre chorus]

    The tighter I hold

    The faster it fades

But I still run into the blade

    [Chorus]

Find something you love and let it kill you

    Let it break you

    Let it thrill you

    Let it pull you under

    Drown in the blue

Find something you love and let it kill you

    [Bridge]

Every breath feels like a dare

    Every step

    I'm gasping air

But I'd rather burn than fade away

    Loving the pain

    Dying to stay

    [Pre Chorus]

    The tighter I hold

    The faster it fades

But I still run into the blade

    [Chorus]

Find something you love and let it kill you

    Let it break you

    Let it thrill you

    Let it pull you under

    Drown in the blue

Find something you love and let it kill you

Let it kill you , let it kill you , Let it kill you

That's a really evocative line Elvis: "Find something you love and let it kill you". That's the one by  Charles Bukowski?

The song is unique, and memorable. I think it's really powerful.

This is one I can imagine being very successful if it was recorded by a well known band.

Yeah thats charles on that saying , I could do this , its probably just a 1 4 5 song , later some time

Sean Penn said it a few nights ago to a talk show host , on cigs. Lower it 2 keys , acoustic stuff ...Let It Kill You.mp3 C♯ major BPM 75

    Thanks Owen

  • @ElvisNash - Great song, I like the pre-chorus the most. catchy. the mirror cracking is why I don't look into mirrors.. perpetual 7 years bad luck ;)

    Hi Elvis,

I read the lyrics before listening and had questions going through my head but you got it nailed. Very good song.

  • I'm confused a little. This is Elvis's lyric right? I absolutely love the simplicity followed by the profound "let it kill you" line. Short, simple country lines are what Suno does best. This one was perfectly and appropriately simple, both for Suno and for the sake of the lyric. I think it's a great lyric, and I think the music is a perfect fit.

Yeah its mine, But it comes from a Charles Bukowski poem the saying

Find something you love and let it kill you. To make it mine , I would have to record it , Simple guitar vocal

    Thanks

  • Let me add a little to my critique. I think this is a uniquely excellent lyric. I think the music from Suno is good, if somewhat generic country music. But I think this lyric (that I think is not just good, but great) demands and deserves better music than Suno came up with on that try. The music is fine, but it's not good enough (in my opinion) for THIS lyric. This lyric reminds me (in terms of profound meaning) of "Good Old Boys Like Me" written by Bob McDill and recorded by Don Williams. McDill doubted there was any market in country music for the song he had written, saying it was "too smart for country music." Yours is also intellectual enough that it requires, and deserves more than generic music. It might be the best lyric I've seen on this forum. . . and one of the best I can remember in years.

  • Oh, Man..... Just for a second you had my heart pumping double time!!

That Chorus lyric is KILLER..."Find something you love and let it kill you"

I know how difficult it is to come up with original lines!!

Never-the-less, you nailed that line with your chorus. Good job!

The music is pretty good... the melody is alright, just a bit ho-hum.

GREAT lyric... I must say the chorus lyric is a stand-out.

I thought Suno did fine on the melody , it's more ALT country than country per-sea . Sure with live players and a producer at a cost of 15k , I could beat it. A million dollars on promotion , it could do something . Who hasn't chased a dream that has almost killed you ? Quite a few I'm guessing . Who would sing that as an artist if we were in the real business world ? Hard to say

    Thanks

  • LOL... so true. As a writer, however... I love the line.

Most "regular" non-writer people probably won't relate. People relate to love interests... getting old... getting drunk....politics, even!

Finding your passion... not so much.

maybe , I'm not sure Tom what everybody does really , People live in their own drama , they're not really interested on what we have to say lol. They mostly react with their childhood . Thats a Bill Burr steal

Suno does not capture the tone of guitars or raw vocals as real players . Will it one day ? Maybe . Country is dumfounded by trucks and all the other cliches

This does not , Or thinking about killing yourself on Chasin dreams , and fail , Snap out of it . Find something you love and let it kill you , it probably will
