“Fair-Weather Friends”
Words & Music By Tom Tognaci
(Produced and covered by SUNO)
The songbird sings in the warm summer sun
Its song is sweet and endearing
But when it has sung the last note on its tongue
It flies away, disappearing
For oh, the sun may stop shining
And oh, the snow falls cold
And oh, that winter’s wind may throw
A tantrum to behold
You’ll hold my hand, and that’s all right by me
It’s all been fine and fair sailing
You smile and I nod, and we always agree
But will it go without failing?
For oh, the sky may turn bitter
And oh, the rain may come
And yes, that devil wind may send
Those clouds to block the sun
All those fair-weather friends, they’ll up and run, like the birds that leave the trees
While the songbird chases the summer sun; I'll be left behind to freeze
I'll be left behind to freeze
Now,
Let it be known that this story I’ve told
Was once first penned a cappella
But when a wild storm brewed and its big thunder rolled
You up and shared your umbrella
Oh, how the sky had opened
With a trumpet’s golden sound
The dark clouds went their separate ways
And a true-blue friend was found
A true-blue friend was found
All those fair-weather friends, they’ll up and run, like the birds that leave the trees
While the songbird chases the summer sun; I'll be chasing you on skis
In the frosty mountain breeze

OMG such a beautiful rendition...but the vocals don't compare to yours. I love this song and listened to it many times but...I'm partial to your original. And if you really want to bring in a band sound, there are websites out there that can bring in human session players...but you know that right?

That is so cool, most of the stuff I've heard with ai sounds overproduced, seems entering your own song changes that equation.
Makes it seem more believable and more homegrown.
I like the feel of this. The only reason to redo the vocal would be if you were marketing yourself .
Works as a functioning demo as is.
Like it, and that's where I'm headed with it0 -
Came out very well!

I appreciate the "voice" comment, but my productions are getting harder and harder for me to do. Honestly, not too many really care.
I'm going to continue recording my songs, but only to use to make covers and for my family to reflect on.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Domd thanks for commenting. Could it be that making covers, AI has much more to go on to produce a more natural sound?
I think these recordings shine where my music can't.
Thanks, Rainy. I agree.
I've spent thousands, over the years, and didn't get the results that I got here.

@IronKnee . I think ai at least with suno is primed to go for polished productions after all, they care about one thing, making money. So make anybody sound like a super star, that's how you keep the gravy train coming
But when you enter say a guitar and vocal, it's taking it's cue from that and tries to support that.
If you told it to add more instrumentation, added prompts to be commercial sounding it might change it
What you should do for experiment is cover the cover version with different prompts and see what happens0 -
HA!
That sounds way too ambitious for me. That's a game for my son-in-law. He spends a lot of money buying additional credits for all his experiments. I'm only interested in getting good demos.

Sounds good Tom , I would not waste money on human session players , It's impossible to make a ROI . These major artists jump thru a lot of hoops to make a buck , it's not the romantic life as some portray . it's better to spend a penny a track on AI

As Dom said it0

This sounds really good. It's a really good song to begin with and Suno does a great job. Covering your own songs is the way to go.

It's the way I'm going to go.
