The blue jay

Lyrics Me; Music - Suno

[Verse 1]

Laying in my yard on a summer's day

On the fence are blue jays at play

Look around, no clouds in the sky

When suddenly, one begins to fly

[Verse 2]

Quickly, he swoops from the sky

In horrific moment, takes my eye

He loudly shrieks, I assume is laughter

No idea, my eye is what he after

[Chorus]

Why, oh why did the blue jay take my eye

Popped it free, then took to the skies,

Now, the blue jay must die,

Singin’, now the blue jay, must die.

[Verse 3]

Without thought, I throw a rock at his head

He falls to the earth, assumed he was dead

He wasn't, and bolts for my other eye

I'm thinkin, this bird must be high

[Verse 4]

In a violent vortex of blues and blood-reds

Stupid bird kept coming for my head

Finally, I'm able to pin it to the ground

And held him there until he was without a sound

[Chorus]

Why, oh why did the blue jay take my eye

Popped it free, then took to the skies,

Now, the blue jay must die,

Singin’, now the blue jay must die.

[Outro]

Sittin' in my chair on a warms summer's day

Sippin' whisky and rye, with the blue jay

My new friend, newfound respect for each other

Once an enemy, now one, I consider my brother

Very nice and interesting song Bill, I imagine the whole things a metaphor for something, just can't figure what it is!

There's a contrast between the actions in the song and the upbeat female delivery of the music and vocals.

I come away thinking, this is a song about contradictions, both the lyrics and the music.

    Really interesting this one.

  • @sidshovel - even the worse enemies can be friends. The contrasting music to bring out the lyrics. My attempt at normal lyrics

I wouldn't say attempt Bill, go back and listen to "Charge of the Light Brigade" you wrote, brilliant.

It's in there, fightin' for you to let it out!

Cut free from the ties you bind yourself.

Thanks Sid. But These are fun.
  • That's surreal. Light hearted melody, vivid color images drifting into horror. And a play on words with "take my eye".

I can't help but imagine you sitting with a wry grin wondering what people will make of these songs!

  • @RainyDayMan - Thanks for the comment. actually, I do have a bit of chuckle writing these things as you never know what reaction you are going to get :)

  • "Take my eye".... interchangeable with "caught my eye"?

The blue bird must be high???? lol.

I love the upbeat melody. You always have great melodies.

  • @TammyB - Thanks for the comment. No, take my eye is literal. the bird literally took his eye :).
