Then is now lyrics

The pain you buried so deep
You thought you figured out
What doesn't make you weep
& just like that it turned
Another messed up lesson learned
The only thing I yearn
For
Has left me to crawl alone
On the floor
I turned back to it
It fit
So I sit
While others dismantle it
While others are allowed to
Dismantle it

Cool lyrics. direct and to the point. I would change the ampersand to the word and. but other than that. it says what needs to be said.

I'm afraid I don't get it. I don't understand why it started about "you" then switched to "me" or what the problems are. To me, the song feels like it was written for yourself, who already understands it, more than to convey something to someone else. But I'm happy to be the odd one out.

You're not the odd one out! I didn't have a clue what it is about 2 hrs ago and waited for some enlightenment from others.
Alas, I have to agree with RDM, another abstract song that goes flying over my head.
I know you write very personal songs Kayla, and it doesn't surprise me Bill gets it, but I suspect the majority are going to struggle with this. Highly introspective lyrics such as these, run the risk of having a target audience of very few.

I'll be the odd one out , I've seen a few of your lyrics . You seem to suffer from depression.
