Something Wicked This Way Comes (inspired to post this by Carrol's song)

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
Something wicked this way comes. Play the fifes and beat the drums. They’ll burn the mansions and level the slums, when something wicked this way comes.
To understand what we must see. Apply the lessons of history. The money and power shift eerily, before this wicked thing can be.
All that’s happening has happened before. False confidence and the closing door. The dress rehearsals in minor wars. If we could see it would frighten us more.
Something wicked this way comes. It’s coming. It’s coming. Something wicked this way comes. It’s coming - It’s coming. Something wicked this way comes. It’s coming and it’s not too far away.
Never again say nevermore. The wicked thing that comes is war. The promises made on a distant shore. The war we had to end all wars. When the next war came, it was bigger, worse, and more. There will never be an end to war.
The only one’s who’ve seen the end of war are the dead. Only the foolish remain unaware that there’s another one up ahead.
Believe what you want but you can hear the hum. The machinery of war that this way comes. Something wicked this way comes. It’s coming - It’s coming.
Something wicked this way comes. It’s coming - It’s coming. Something wicked this way comes. It’s coming and it’s not too far away.
Never again say nevermore. The wicked thing that comes is war.
Something wicked this way comes. Play the fifes and beat the drums. They’ll burn the mansions and level the slums.. When something wicked this way comes.
Something wicked this way comes. Play the fifes and beat the drums. They’ll burn the mansions and level the slums.. When something wicked this way comes.

Not sure exactly what I did to post this in the wrong place. It's an old lyric I wrote 15 years ago about history repeating itself. Carrol's song "History repeats Itself" inspired me to post it. I intended for it to be posted in the "Original Songs and Lyrics" category.

Yes, I can see how it was inspired by Carroll's song.
You've got a real sense of foreboding building there.
I like simple rhyme scheme you're using. Gives it a feel like a weird nursery rhyme vibe to me. Wicked clown feel.
Let's hope the song is wrong!

Brilliant lyrics.. dark, but very cool

I think it's pretty cool.
I wrote a "Something Evil This Way Comes" about 16 years ago. A bit of a Halloween song. It's meant to be spooky...not very happy. Elvis probably won't like it 😋

To be clear. Carroll's song inspired me to post it. It was written around 2014. And, I hope it's wrong too, but the "next war" IS inevitable. All we can hope for is that it is a small one and doesn't destroy the world WE live in.

@Hardtwistmusic I agree: wars don't happen by accident and all wars are bankster's wars of which I believe you've covered nicely. And we ARE at WAR at present. As they burn down California and other places around the world by way of DEW (directed energy weaponry) . Also, biological warfare by way of phony viruses and/or cooked up viruses along with dangerous 'vaccines' some people call kill-shots. And the chemtrailing of the skies worldwide, the slaughtering of chickens and livestock due to manufactured viruses. Welcome to WW3 of which some say started with 9-eleven. Not to mention the wars which continue in the mid-East of which could kick off a worldwide war.
And, no nukes are needed these days to kill off the masses as the cyber-tech and the bio-tech is astounding! The dilapidated electric grid in the U.S. is also of serious concern.
Anyway, I hope what I've stated is relevant to your lyric and well-received by you. I pray deeply we never see the day.

I can only pray this new administration, headed by Trump, will tamp and put out these fires of war.
At the very least, by and large, the world is finally all coming together to end the BS.

Ha Ha Ha , I'm just big on hope songs , not political rants on were all doomed . But they seem quiet popular on forums , I'm not sure on Billboard charts , I'd say no

@ElvisNash Roots Radio (Americana) has a fair share of dark songs; even a few political songs. I love Americana because it's wide open for content! Pretty much, ya know they ain't playin' Poon Tang, tho'! Lol

Don't be real worried about me being afraid to post. "o) There are a lot of reasons not to post. That isn't one of them.
