freight trains and southern rain

https://audiomack.com/nashvillecalif/song/freight-trains-and-southern-rain

V1

There’s something soothing about living near old rusty rails

And Slow showers that roll thru that’s when peace prevails

In my dreams I'm laying down pennies on the tracks

Back as a young boy walking by a ole Trestle shack

Chorus

Freight trains and southern rain

Comfort me like heaven and wash away my pain

I love to lie awake and listen til they’re gone

Drift off to simpler times til my troubles all move on

When the world feels all wrong and gone insane

I think about freight trains and southern rain

V2

The thunder is rumbling as the box cars go slowly by

In my heart and mind I tag along for awhile

And as that locomotive whistle says good-bye

It’s almost like a prayer whispering in the night

Chorus

Comments

  • Another excellent song, enjoyed this one very much.

    Consructive comment:

To make it sound smoother consider changing the last two lines in the chorus just a tad.

When the world feels wrong, an' gone insane

Thinkin' about freight trains, an' southern rain.

Thats a pretty old song and demoed , Not worth redoing songs anymore , cuz selling songs does not fit my agenda anymore . I should have been a paid pro writer by now . 20 years and hundreds of songs . Tuff bizz , You'll lose your house trying and I did .

    Thanks

  • I've never understood why, on most albums, there are at least 30% of the tracks that are mediocre at best, an' rubbish at worst.

On any given week, there's probably 4-6 posts on this forum that are much better than those 30%.

Why doesn't the band/manager/label just offer the songwriter $1000 for the song and at the end of the day have a much better album.

I don't know Sid , it's an impossible business , If I knew anything I'd be a staff writer by now . Thats an old song , Top 40 now are more rap country . Here's what ended my career trying to be pro writer . I talked to a Curb publisher. You will never sell a song being an unknown writer , I don't care how good it is . So that's it , the rest is bullshit by other publishers and gurus . All I can really do is be the artist and do little promotion . The pipe dream as a pro writer and earn an income is out the window .

Of course Christian Nashville demo studios will say I'm wrong . Maybe they can buy my house back for me . That might be something Jesus would do lol. I'm over the whole thing really .

Why did Ashely Gorley join Sony as a staff writer ? Probably to keep it all in a close knit circle , is my guess .

Let's do the numbers . $300,000 over 25 years trying to be a staff writer . Even the most optimistic person like myself is saying... well enough on that nonsense . Just sing a few and call it a day . Well I learned how to write a song , Lets stay positive lol
