For sale, as is
ok here's another, this one is more relaxed country.
at the start it shows how Ai can go a little wrong as it added what i typed as a prompt as lyrics, lol luckily i can cut that out easy enough but as mine are rough demos i left it on for now.
(Verse 1)
I got a truck sittin' in the driveway,
Rust on the fenders, but it still runs fine.
Got a couple dings from the good ol' days,
When you and me, we were ridin' high.
Backseat full of our Friday nights,
Tailgate down, starry sky,
But now it's just takin' up space,
Ain't seen the road since you drove away.
(Chorus)
For sale, as is, with a broken heart,
Price is low, 'cause it won’t restart.
Comes with a past, and some memories too,
Of all the things I can't undo.
It’s got some miles, and it's seen some tears,
But I can't hold on to the pain in here.
So if you’re lookin' for a ride that’s had its years,
This truck’s for sale, as is.
(Verse 2)
That old radio still plays our song,
But it don’t sound right since you’ve been gone.
The wheels still turn, but they lost their way,
Since you packed up and drove away.
There’s a crack in the windshield from our first fight,
And a worn-out seat on the passenger side.
Every inch of it, a story to tell,
But it’s time to let go and wish you well.
(Bridge)
I thought we'd ride forever, side by side,
But now all I got’s this empty drive.
So I’m lettin' go, though it hurts to see,
The pieces of what used to be.
(Outro)
Yeah, it’s for sale, as is,
Just like me, with a broken heart to give.

That's a good set of lyrics there! I'm assuming the AI generated the music!? If so, how much info did you have to it give before it came up with it all?

Yeah the lyrics are mine but i cant sing so i use ai to turn it into a song as a demo, it takes quite a bit to get it close to how i hear it in my head, lots of tries changing bits at a time.0

Works very well. Good, solid country song.

Good lyrics. The Ai does what I'd guess you want it to. I'm trying to keep clear of saying too much about Ai generated music (I have some strong feelings about it), choosing instead to say it how I hear it song by song. It's okay here, though I think it could do with some more dynamics. I don't know how you'd tell the Ai to do that.
As it stands, it's a good listen.

I’m still blown away that people can make whole songs with AI now. I can only imagine all the time and effort to get it to sound like this. For a demo, this definitely works well as a classic country tune. The lyrics to me are the standout, they fit perfectly into that country music tradition of plainspoken storytelling.0

Hi Dan,
Brilliant classic country song, great story well told. I really admire the unique take of relating the cars condition with the end of the relationship, well done. Proper CW sound this one, hope you have some more.
Sid
P.S. Read my piece in General Discussion/ Ai Problems, recent post for solving some of your Ai issues.

I've found that when using the Ai program i use it can take multiple tries changing a single word in your prompts can make or ruin the sound.
you can ask for specific drum beats, musical instruments, and anything found in a song, its knowing how its coded that's the key, pretty much all of it is trial and error, which is what takes all the time.
you cant simply ask it to copy a song as adding artist names brings back a cant do that message so you need to know how to prompt it with specific words that describe a genre or feel to a bit of music, i would encourage ppl to try it out, you have nothing to lose.
i will say that check your spelling before trying, i've had typos in lyrics and it sings the exact thing you type in, lol
finally i have loads Sid, over 150 songs, some are terrible probably most are but they are all on my sound cloud.
i wont post them all here as spamming is not nice, lol

Just finished listening to the first 6 tracks on your soundcloud. They just blew me away! They are way past exceptional, any CW fans reading this, go and check Dan's tracks on SoundCloud.
You have to post Whiskey Tears here, got to share this.
Dan, anywhere you've posted the lyrics, I love your rhyming schemes, very innovative.

Thanks, I'm not paying you for those compliments ,lol
I've worked as a delivery driver for an electrical wholesaler for many a year so get all day everyday to listen to music, i have it pretty much glued to countryline radio all day long so all the songs they play just get drummed into me and i guess some one the lyrics come from just listening to music all day every day, it probably helps to be constantly hit with hit songs in a genre that's about the lyrics, i also do my research on a subject I'm writing on, i have a song called God dam Alabama about a rivalry between Tennessee and Alabama at college football and i googled it and found a few facts and bits and wrote around that, for a song that's all about college football its actually not bad!
i'm weird when it comes to writing, i can go weeks without anything not even wanting to write just totally forgetting about it then one day i'll just get a tune in my head and i'll start singing the lyrics, i write them down when i can and that day i can pretty much write the whole song in an hour at most, if i try to force write the songs are not as good so i don't force it.

Hi Dan,
You have to work hard to get compliments from me!
I'm not a CW fan per se, I can't stand songs about prairies, three legged dogs, or jails.
What I do like is story songs with a difference.
I look for and appreciate a unique angle within the story, e.g. "sold as is".
That the story is factually correct, is very important in these days of fake this and that!
RDM posted a piece recently called "Sweet Fanny Adams" and the research was meticulous in every detail, a great example of a story song!
I will listen to that Football song, LoL.
Like you, I tend to bang out a song in one sitting, too much thought and I get distracted and go off in the wrong direction.
Talking of weird, I have this habit when writing a song which ends with a twist to only come up with the twist at the bridge section, before that it was just a normal song!
Any other songwriters out there care to share?

a good tip for practising is to take a song you like and re write it, its bloody hard coz you cant get the song you like out of your head, lol, but it teaches you to write the same thing in a different way

Dan,
Any chance of you posting an example of one of your Ai prompts as this is clearly the key to getting in the ballpark for a decent song and I think I'm not doing it right at all.

its different every time depending on what your after, keep it simple.
don't put too many things in the prompt as it then tries to mix everything together and will over do it.
i often use the same lyrics and just go through so many prompts to see what differences it makes, swapping out bits, if you have lyrics you like just try that.

Here's a typical prompt I would use, anything jumps out as not right?
Male vocals, Acoustic country, storytelling lyrics, warm male vocals, guitar, and soft percussion

i always start with the type of music so the genre you want first then if its a story you want tell it the story so for example:
Rock, tell the story of a man who writes rock songs using Ai, warm male vocals, upbeat , up tempo,
there are many ways of writing a prompt, you can use a title and add feelings you want to come out in the lyrics, or you you cna add specific drum beats, you can even mux genres too for some very weird results, lol.
its about experimenting till you find a sound that fits, it can take a while to something you like, have patience and enjoy the creating.
