hide and seek with our hearts

Hide and seek with our hearts
verse
You are afraid of rejection.
You hide your feelings from me.
I am a shy sort of a guy;
Think you are out of my league.
Chorus
We've both been hurt before.
had our lives torn apart.
we’re like children playing.
hide and seek with our hearts.
verse
We are playing a game of charades.
but we fail to get the clues.
you hide how you feel about me.
You don’t see that I love you.
chorus
We’ve both been hurt before.
Had our lives torn apart.
We’re like children playing
Hide and seek with our hearts.
bridge
Perhaps it’s time we trust our hearts.
Let them have their say.
Trust that they’ll know what’s best for us.
Let them have their way.

  • Nice! Those core lines are lovely:

    we’re like children playing.

hide and seek with our hearts.

Only thing I'd point to is in the bridge perhaps these lines are a little too similar:

    Let them have their say.

    Let them have their way.

    Otherwise very solid!

Playing Devil's Advocate, but a honest question, when is a Faux Pas a good technique.

The use of exact lines except for the last word, in my opinion, draws attention to those words for that very reason.

If that is the writers intention, then could it be said that it worked and therefore a good scheme?

As I said, Devil's Advocate, but interested in opinions.

  • @sidshovel All these things are opinions and interpretations as you know Sid! Rules are made to be broken! Does it work in this case? For me it doesn't but that's just one opinion. And it's always dangerous to make such pronouncements without hearing it first, but hey we're living on the edge!!
