There'll be other days lyrics

There'll be other days

verse 1

The highlight of my day, cos I know that you'll be there

You dropping off your little boy, me, my bundle of joy

Our eyes meet, our lips touch, Oh, I'm getting ahead of myself

You kiss your little son's head, and give him his favourite toy

verse 2

I've been waiting for an hour, by the door to the P.T.A.

Your walking up the hallway, I pretend I just got there

The smile you send my way, says I'm glad you waited for me

A teacher grabs your arm, and marches you off somewhere

chorus

There's so much I want to say

Other places, other ways

If my courage doesn't fail me

There'll be other days

verse 3

I dodge the spill in aisle eight, heading for the pizza fridge

I'd know that hair anywhere, your trying the latest Chanel

With the trolley in overdrive, I head over to you

The assistant grabs your hands, buries them in some gel.

verse 4

I follow you to Starbucks, your sitting by the door

You wave to me at the counter, I feign surprise and smile back

The lady in front gets two coffees, then sits down next to you

A case of mistaken identity, burn my hand grabbing my black

chorus

There's so much I want to say

Other places, other ways

If my courage doesn't fail me

There'll be other days

verse 5

Monday morning 8.a.m., a packed subway's morning rush.

People are jammed in tight, no room to go anywhere.

Your pressed up hard against me, our lips, a few inches apart.

Leaning to my ear, you whisper, "Well, fancy meeting you here."

chorus

There's so much I want to say

Other places, other ways

If my courage doesn't fail me

There'll be other days

  • Another good one, Sid. Did you write it recently? The succinct chorus drives home the song's message. Nice work!

Thanks Joseph, Most of my posts are written the day before.

On average I write 3 a day and pick one to post

I really value your time and feedback

  • Really good lyrics.
  • I particularly like the contrast in lengths between the verses and the chorus. Nice separation.

And the chorus itself is strong.

Do they sell Chanel in supermarkets? I'm not used to that and it caught me off-guard, but it might be common in the UK.

It can be a fine line between love and stalking, but I think you're on the right side of it here!!

    Good stuff.
