THE HURTIN' KIND

Before this over

Before its begun

You'll think of me like a river runs

Red, like wine

You're not the hurting kind

It's about trust and its about fate

How some things happen just a little too late

You're still doing fine

You're not the hurting kind

My love is real

Love is all I have to leave behind

You have everything

And you're not the hurting kind

I've seen 'em cry and I've seen 'em crawl

The hardest seem to have the furthest to fall

But each and every time

You're not the hurting kind

Comments

  • "You're not the hurting kind" is a nice line, and the melody is a good match for it.

These lines caught my eye too

I've seen 'em cry and I've seen 'em crawl

The hardest seem to have the furthest to fall

The change up at the end was a nice surprise.

In v1 I didn't these lines followed on well:

You'll think of me like a river runs

    Red, like wine

the "like a ..." invites the listener to interpret the next line in terms of a river, but then it switches to wine instead.

    Enjoyed my listen! 😁

  • Hey, this is a lovely song. Possibly your best imo. I can imagine this being worked into a bigger arrangement. As a demo it's absolutely fine. I like the sentiments too. I enjoyed this.😀
