Little Lost Boy

Hi if these lyrics give anyone an idea, please go ahead and use them.

Little Lost Boy

I may travel all, over the world

spend my life, chasing pretty girls

trying to show that I'm in control

and that I'm not a damaged, soulll

Chorus

But deep inside, I'm trying to hide

that little boy, who told lies

just to belong, to Dylans gang

who cried, when he lost his lovely gran

I put on the charm, I've learnt all the chat

but some of the girls, they see right through me

they smile, as they walk away

and say, -your a little lost boy

Chorus

But deep inside, I'm trying to hide

that little boy, who told lies

just to belong to Dylans gang

who cried, when he lost his lovely gran

And deep down inside, I know that they're right

when I'm alone, I can't sleep without light

Oh, I know all the jokes, I can dazzle old folks

but on my own, I'm a little lost boy

I may travel all, over the world

spend my life, chasing pretty girls

trying to show that I'm in control

and that I'm not a damaged, soulll

Chorus

But deep inside, I'm trying to hide

that little boy, who told lies

just to belong to Dylans gang

who cried, when he lost his lovely gran

I may travel all, over the world

spend my life, chasing pretty girls

but inside, I'm a little lost boy

but inside, I'm a little lost boy

but inside, I'm a little lost boy

but inside, I'm a little lost boy

  • I like the mood of this, but it doesn't quite feel settled to me.

It's interesting that you use the "little boy lost" to end some of the verses. It would be more common to see that as the final line in the chorus where it gets more emphasis - but there's nothing wrong with being different! The main thing is that you use it repeatedly since it's your hook and title.

    These lines:

just to belong to Dylans gang

who cried, when he lost his lovely gran

don't feel like they belong in the chorus to me. I think they're good, and should be in the song, but they're descriptive of things that have happened, whereas the chorus (to me) is more about who the singer is. But you don't need to agree! It's your song

Lots of worthwhile stuff in here.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback Owen, I might have a play around with it

Hi I've made a recording giving an idea of the melody, if anyone wants to take it on further.

    It's very basic

  • I think V2 is tighter than V1, good job there!

And the recording is definitely helpful to understand the mood and the melody you are going for.

As a suggestion, in the chorus you might swap the word order around on these lines:

that little lost boy, who told lies

    (Gap)

the little lost boy, who cried when gran died

to use "little boy lost" the first time then "lost little boy" the second. But there are also advantages in repeating the same phrase to really hammer it home - so your call on that one.

And I like that revised phrase "who cried when gran died", that internal rhyme, and how succinct it is now.

Hi Owen thanks, you might be right about swapping

that little lost boy, who told lies

    (Gap)

that little lost boy, who cried when gran died

    Around to

the little lost boy, who cried when gran died

    Gap

that little lost boy, who told lies

I think I would keep little lost boy, rather than l using little boy lost as it feels like repeating it has more impact

  • Cool! As I said to someone else a minute ago, these suggestions are just like me saying "Have you thought about..." but you should always go with what feels right to you.

  • If I was working on this song I'd maybe consider singing verses 1 & 2 back to back before going into the chorus. I couldn't really hear your recording very clearly so I was just using my imagination. As Owen says, it has to be what's right for you, but I'm just throwing an idea about.

Hopefully someone will help you bring this alive. The words are really strong.

Thanks Chris, any suggestions on what is best the best tablet/iPad to get a better recording - my Android fire is very poor as you can probably tell..

After looking at it again, I like the suggestion about verses 1 and 2, as it helps develops the story before you go into the chorus
