Chip Taylor died today:
Chip wrote (among hundreds of other songs: Angel of the Morning -- Wild Thing -- Any Way that you Want Me -- Son of A Rotten Gambler performed by the Hollies, then by Ann Murray. The Truth and Other Things -- Same Ol Story
Artists covering Chip Taylor included: Willie Nelson, Johnny Tillotson, Barbara Lewis, The Pozo Seco Singers, Jackie DeShannon, Lita Ford, American Breed, Lorraine Ellison, Bobby Fuller Four, Marshall Crenshaw, The Fleetwoods, Waylon Jennings, Bobby Bare, Emmylou Harris and Anne Murray.
I believe the Hollies also covered at least one of his songs.
In the golden age of rock and roll, Chip was primarily country. . . and lost in the shuffle in spite of the fact that he had numerous crossover hits. In today's world, his early sixties country songs would have undoubtedly done better than they did then.
A phenomenal songwriter and a very good performer. He was the brother of John Voight, and the Uncle of Angelina Jolie. He was an unsuccessful professional golfer, a successful professional gambler and a highly regarded engineer. A truly talented man.

I remember "Angel of the Morning" but wasn't aware of Chip Taylor.
I feel like I'm of an age now where the people passing are of my era rather than ahead of me!!
