The Christmas Song, Mel Torme and Robert Wells 1945
"The Christmas Song" sometimes titled "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" or, as it was originally subtitled, "Merry Christmas to You" is a classic Christmas song written in 1945 by Robert Wells and Mel Torme.
According to Torme, the song was written in July during a blistering hot summer. In an effort to "stay cool by thinking cool", the most-performed Christmas song was born. "I saw a spiral pad on his (Wells's) piano with four lines written in pencil", Tormé recalled. "They started, 'Chestnuts roasting..., Jack Frost nipping..., Yuletide carols..., Folks dressed up like Eskimos.' Bob didn't think he was writing a song lyric. He said he thought if he could immerse himself in winter he could cool off. Forty minutes later that song was written. I wrote all the music and some of the lyrics."
The Nat King Cole Trio first recorded the song in June 1946.
Dedicated to all beautiful peoples of our world!
Peace and Joy is my wish for all!!!

This is beautiful. Clarissa has a wonderful voice. You're giving us a real feast of classic music as we head towards Christmas. I'm only hearing this on one side of my headphones - might be worth converting it to a mono recording with something like Audacity. Otherwise, this is superb.😀

Hi Chris,
Thank you, as always, for your great support and excellent feedback.
This particular recording was done on a set-up that had issues with the one-side.
I had since changed my set-up, and fixed the problem, although I am not able to pinpoint the cause of the issue.
Love your responses!!!
Warm regards,
Rene and Clarissa

What a wonderful cover. Clarissa has a beautiful voice and your guitar work is top notch as always. I also love the video. Being able to see you two makes this all the more enjoyable!!
I also only had audio signal on one side. Could be a youtube mess up. If your master video is okay It might be a good idea to re-upload the video to see if that corrects it.
Thanks for sharing.👍
