Blue City
To quote Back To the Future - this is an oldie where I come from...
I have had this song since at least 1989, recorded a digital demo in mid-2000s posted below - here is the SUNO version, and as the song always was meant for a female lead vocalist it is a lot closer to what was intended...

BLUE CITY
[Verse 1]
I've been running too far
Far too far to notice you
Now faith is fascination
Now I'm free, my imagination can run
[Chorus]
Destination, blue city
That's where my heart it longs to be
Destination, blue city
That's where you can be close to me
[Verse 2]
I've been running too long
Far too long to know the truth
Now love is invigoration
Now I'm free, I know where I must go
[Chorus]
Destination, blue city
That's where my heart it longs to be
Destination, blue city
That's where you can be close to me
[Bridge]
It's not too far away
Come with me, I will find a brand new
It's not too far away
Come with me, I will find a brand new day
[Verse 3]
I've been waiting so long
Far too long to make it through
My dreams are in confusion
There's only one conclusion I know
[Chorus]
Destination, blue city
That's where my heart it longs to be
Destination, blue city
That's where you can be close to me

The original is like lou reed meets dire straits :).. I honestly like the original better. I know you bag on your voice, be we are our own critics. The suno is catchy, but to me seems like it's missing something.

Quite like both versions! Nice to have the option to just ask for a female vocal though :)
Only thing I'd point to is "Blue City". I when I think of something blue it's usually associated with sadness or pain, but that isn't the feel of this song at all. Seems more about finding love and happiness. So I don't really understand "Blue City" as a reference.
But it all holds together very nicely, and certainly easy on the ear!

TY - I think the lyrics can be interpreted one of two ways, as you suggest -
Blue is seen as sky blue, beautiful clear skies or
Blue is sadness, infatuation pulling you in and then being sad/disappointed
I believe when I wrote it, at age 22, I was thinking optimistically...

The double meaning is nice. Let the listener interpret. thanks for the explanation! :)

Suno does a tidy job here, though I wish it was a real band playing that arrangement. But, like others here, I so much prefer the original. Perhaps because I'm sick of Suno and the rest. The original isn't perfect, but it has real personality and that's something AI will never create. Great song.😀
