Wouldn't End This Way (Lyrics only for now again)

I know this is a sad song but they are good for the heart. I'm running this by to see if there is anything needing to be fixed.

Thanks

Tex

Wouldn't End This Way

Darling, since the moment you slipped away

It's all I can do to fake it day to day

I dream you're lying next to me at night

But you're gone with the morning light

I know it's been a while since I've dropped by

But Darling, It's because I always seem to cry

Wish I could go back to our story's beginning

Pull out my pen and write us a new ending

Then girl, you'd have never slipped away

And it wouldn't end this way

No it wouldn't end this way

Me? Well I guess I'm doing OK

But I miss you more and more each day

Sometimes I stare at your picture on the wall

And I think I hear your foot steps down the hall

My friends tell me, I'll find someone new

But Darling, I can't seem to get over you

Wish I could go back to our story's beginning

Pull out my pen and write us a new ending

Then girl, you'd have never slipped away

And it wouldn't end this way

No it wouldn't end this way

I've got roses in my hand, and tears in my eyes

Sorry, but I've got to go now, it's getting late

Groundskeeper's angry, wanting to close the gate

Wish I could go back to our story's beginning

Pull out my pen and write us a new ending

Then girl, you'd have never slipped away

And it wouldn't end this way

No it wouldn't end this way

No it wouldn't end this way

  • Nice twist her dying , its a bit telling then showing for a country song

  • @Tex - honestly, I would keep it as is. it's raw and from the heart. I can relate, sadly. i'd love to hear this put to music.. i'm old school, but I hear conway twitty singing this.. :)

Thanks guys and Yes for sure country.

  • Lovely. Sad and sweet. That chorus works particularly well, though my favorite line is probably:

It's all I can do to fake it day to day

Thanks for the comment Owen. Don't know if this will fit in todays country, but I still think it'll make a good song.

Robots are a bit tricky , Sometimes you got run the song 15 times to get the version you want . At a penny a track its a deal of the century

I would use baby instead of darling , thats more of a out dated term of Conway Twitty

    Sounds good man

  • I originally liked the lyric's simplicity. The music really Kept it simple, and country. You might try to tell SUNO to cover this, and instruct it to do it in 3/4 time. This has a real "old time country" vibe that would be more reminiscent of old time stuff if it were slow, and in 3/4 time. I think this turned out really well. BTW. . . half of what is right about this is YOUR lyric. Some of the rest is the music from SUNO. . . but don't let anyone tell you this isn't YOUR song. You can be proud of this, and don't let anyone make you doubt that. There are things you can do to make Suno provide music that you direct and control, but this is an exceptional outing in my opinion.

3/4 time is a bit outdated , I'd leave 4/4 time . you could add a solo after 2nd chorus , But probably dosen't need it , its cohesive

No, waltzes are not a dominant feature in current country music hits in 2025. While country music has seen a surge in popularity, recent hits like Morgan Wallen's "What I Want" are not waltzes. The term "waltz" in country music typically refers to slower tempo songs, but the specific 3/4 time signature of a true waltz is rare in today's chart-topping country.  4/4 follows trends . Even though we won't sell songs in 2025 over many issues , its always good to see what's happening on current radio
