White on Black
Chorus
Is it black on white or white on black;
what’s the truth and what’s the lie ?
We might never know
unless we compromise.
Verse
You’re busy being you.
And I’m busy being me.
There are two sides to a story
But the truth lies in between.
You’ve got your view, I’ve got my view
Things get in the way.
If we could see from common ground
We’d agree on what to say.
Chorus
Is it black on white or white on black;
what’s the truth and what’s the lie ?
We might never know
unless we compromise.
Verse
We’re both right we’re both wrong
just different shades of grey.
If we walk towards the middle
We’ll meet along the way.
What’s the left side, what’s the right side
The mirror doesn’t care.
You can always play to win
But it isn’t always fair.
Chorus
Is it black on white or white on black;
what’s the truth and what’s the lie ?
We might never know
unless we compromise.
Bridge
When you’re losing all your winning
There’s nothing to be gained
Give a little, gain a little
Being stubborn is insane.
If the world comes down around us
I won’t be the one to blame.
If you’ve got any self-respect
I know you’ll do the same.
White on Black
Chorus
Is it black on white or white on black;
what’s the truth and what’s the lie ?
We might never know
unless we compromise.
Verse

I like the wrestling happening here and the attempt to reason with the other side across racial, ideological, and belief systems.
“You can always play to win but it isn’t always fair.” Ain’t that the truth. The sentiment in your lyrics reminds me of one of my favorite poems of all time called “The Cold Within”. I can’t remember the poet.
Compromise as proposed in the song can lead to mutual understanding. Good song to launch conversations on class warfare and status.0 -
Decent song, A
Is this a cover or AI written?
One thing I like and agree with the lyric is that we need to strive for common footing.
it's sure getting harder.
Again, good one!
