Robbing Peter to Play Ball

I wanted to run a few more tunes by y'all, apparently my novelty is wearing out...whatever in the hell that means
I wrote this lyric long time ago, I've done it myself, in different styles, performed it live.
This is kinda where I want it in Americana
In this version, I'm using my lyrics into Ai, udio.

Peter owned a sportin goods store
right here on South Street
one Sunday we pried open the door
took a sack full of mitts and some baseball cleats
a few Louisvlle Sluggers had come with us too
and it wasn't for protection
we headed out to an upper class town
played in all the restricted sections
We were robbing Peter to play ball
and we always felt eight feet tall
aint no way we could pay for it all
so it didn't feel so bad when we were
robbing Peter to play ball
Well, we musta pulled that same ole drill
least a half a dozen times
We thought Peter must be rollin in bills
acted as though he was unaware of the crimes
Didn't hear about a thing on the news
nothin written in the papers
Jimmy and Joey and Russell and I
pulled off a string of whoppin capers
We were robbing Peter to play ball
and we always felt eight feet tall aint no way we could pay for it all so it didn't feel so bad when we were robbing Peter to play ball
Later that summer hooked up with a county pick-up game
drew a crowd of merchants and then Peter came
The guilt hoovered over me like a screw ball in high-flight
Peter yelled "hit one to Brooklyn...
you got my bat,
it's only right"
We were robbing Peter to play ball
and we always felt eight feet tall
aint no way we could pay for it all
so it didn't feel so bad
when we were robbing Peter to play ball

Very smooth. Good fit to the music
The Intro was a touch long for me, don't know how much control you have there.
Like the ball reference in " like a screw ball in high-flight" - nice to keep it in context.
Good story, made better by the fact that Peter knew what was going on.
I don't think it's brilliant, but it's good. Very easy listening.
