This is dedicated to all the mothers in the world. Having been present at three births, I salute your strength and bravery. If it was up to me, I'd give you all medals.

[verse 1]

Her water broke mid afternoon,

by four, we were at the hospital.

Five, saw her prepped in the ward,

I waited outside for the call.

[verse 2]

I paced up and down in the hallway,

noticed the floor tiles were well worn.

How much anguish these halls had seen,

waiting to hear, if his baby was born.

[chorus]

They called me in, I held her hand,

nails dug deep down in my skin.

"Hush now mother, don't make a fuss,

nearly there, push, one more push."

[verse 3]

I wiped the sweat from her brow,

I started breathin', in an' out too.

Told her everything is gonna be fine,

so useless, but what else could I do?

[chorus]

They called me in, I held her hand,

nails dug deep down in my skin.

"Hush now mother, don't make a fuss,

nearly there, push, one more push."

[bridge]

Push, push, my hand was turning blue,

she squeezed the life outta me.

"Push, push, one last time mother,"

Pushed all her life down into you.

[verse 4]

They let me hold the little bundle,

we were both cryin' out with joy.

I placed the baby next to her,

"mum, say hello to your boy."

[chorus]

They called me in, I held her hand,

nails dug deep into my skin.

"Hush now mother, don't make a fuss,

nearly there, push, one more push."

[outro]

"Hush now mother, don't make a fuss,

nearly there, push, one more push."

Comments

  • @sidshovel - certainly captured the moment in words.. perfect music to capture the essence of the moment ;)

  • Mothers could relate on this one Sid , Suno like always does a good job

  • Thaks guys appreciate your comments

  • I quite like this, but my wife really doesn't want to remember the details of the birth process - just the result! If other women are the same it may not be one for mothers. That doesn't mean you shouldn't write about it. And I think you've captured it quite nicely here.

  • Unlike my wife who reminds me whenever she's after a new dress!

    Thanks RDM.
