Crow Part One

https://audiomack.com/nashvillecalifV1

Folks say I look like the Devil

You won't see me up there in heaven

I'm not much different than the lonesome dove

We both dance on corners

In mob mentality crowds

But they like the coo and not the caw

That mocking bird also has flaws

Ch

I sit up here in this Crepe Myrtle tree

Down there they wonder about me

I'm dressed like Johnny cash

With the curse of a black cat

Same role mysterious acting parts

From Hitchcock to Tarantino movies

I'm just a ole sad crow

Hanging around

V2

I have to somehow except myself

Southern roots and coal feathers

On the wind with friends

You'll curse our names

If were a murder then we've been framed

I'll keep flying from North to South

When I'm kicked out of ghostly towns

ch

Bridge

I was in the Garden Of Eden

Navajos call me evil

I stand in the shadows

Of just enough magic in the moonlight

Children point fingers from their windows

Ch

Are ya'll scared of me

This misunderstood soul

Hanging around

I love those big black birds...highly intelligent creatures. Great concept, slick song, and then there's the perceived metaphor...is that really you up there in the tree the children are pointing fingers at?

Ha Ha Ha been known to happen . Thanks man .

Ill tell ya a story on this , one producer where I sung it , Said you can't sing

Is that right , Well your fired and will go to other studio. Maybe you should learn to produce someone , You got a big mouth , I walked out

Where'd the concept come from? Those birds are really interesting, capable of problem-solving, using tools, and remembering human faces. And an aside...what would you call your genre?

  • Probably Americana , it’s not main stream
Probably feeling like the underdog when I wrote this , it’s a tuff bizz to right promotion on songs , so frustration comes out on songs , but I try not to get to woe is me in tunes . Though optimistic is challenging .

Good song, man!! This isn't SUNO, is it?

Naw that's not Suno , I beat out a melody . Then Mason Douglass a producer , polished up the tracks

I only uses suno mostly for fun , See what robots can do. They are radio ready , But a bit lacking the real feel of live tracks and singers , they are getting better though , bit scary how good

    Thanks Tom

This is a unique and outstanding song beautifully performed.

To me it sounds like an amalgamation of Waits, Cocker and Havens and just a pleasure to listen to.

The lyrics provide a vivid imagery through the metaphorical Crow that is brilliant in it's conception and performance.

An outstanding piece of work indeed.

  • Thats pretty hight praise Sid

    Thanks man

I'm pretty sure I heard this before, maybe while I was exploring your Youtube Channel? Did you ever consider adding in that Crepe Mrytle tree to that last line? Digging all the imagery Elvis.

  • Yeah it was done awhile ago Barry , I'm running out of songs.. till I get back in the studio again

The misunderstood line kinda wraps it up , But yes you could add the tree again , Not sure it would add any value

Who knows , have to hear it in context

Sorry to hear about your friends man

    Thanks
