Original Song - Whirlwind Blues

Here's an original short blues/funk/soul tune that I wrote and recorded some time ago. No AI used! I usually don't compose these type songs but I guess I was paying homage to or maybe channeling Hendrix (the famous guitarist) here. What do you think?

Lyrics:

I'll tell you one time

Maybe I'll tell you twice

You find your place in this world

You find your place in the whirlwind baby

Your life is flyin' by

Lookin' at other guys

And you jump in the wind

You need a hurricane

You find yourself in this world

You find yourself in a whirlwind baby

  • The vocals are being drowned out by the guitars. which part is channeling hendrix?..

  • Same problems with the audio. I won't bang on about that any further except to echo what @bhengen says. The vocals are drowned out. However I can a bit of Hendrix about this one. There's a good song in here.

  • Which part is channeling Hendrix? About all of it! The opening guitar solo. The blues licks after the lines "in a whirlwind baby" is total Hendrix. The guitar tone. The subtle psychedelic effects. The derivative rock sound in the chorus. All Hendrix.

  • @robwills - I don't really agree. you have too much distortion. jimmy put his passion in every note, which I'm not hearing from you.. not to say your playing is bad, but not at jimmy's level. the vocals are also off. jimmy also put emotion into his vocals, your's really is monotone.. there really isn't much inflection.

  • I wasn't saying I was anywhere near the level of Hendrix; just saying the overall sound was in a Hendrix style, as opposed to say Van Halen.

  • @robwills - ok. i'm not sure which one as all I hear is static..

  • I like the energy in this one - and it fits the whirlwind theme too. I can hear that Hendrix influence there.

Love to hear a driving bass with this too.

@robwills Love your opening verse (1st 4 lines). In my head, following those 4 lines, I hear a chorus going something like the following:

You find your place in the whirlwind, baby

    In the whirlwind, baby

    In the whirlwind, baby

And I don't mean maybe, you're givin' me the whirlwind blues

And then, whatever chorus you come up with again, following "You need a hurricane" line

Anyway, I hope I haven't intruded too much. I love your idea, Rob just needs a bit more structure, BUT it IS your song to do with as you wish....now for a listen....nice guitar work!

I'm afraid you'd have to master pro tools or go to a professional studio to get what Hendrix did 60 years ago , it's a pretty ruff recording . mixing alone takes 6 hours by pros . competition is brutal , So you have some work to do

  • Thanks. I'm probably not going to record anymore standard sounding music, like this one. I'm going follow what I feel and it will sound like some of my other pieces that have a kind of classical sound to them. I will do my best to upgrade the sound quality. I think the recommended microphone will do it.

Alot to Pro tools , My producer just got from LA and Namm convention , Geek city on all the new toys lol , he was like a kid in a candy store . convention hall full of people on new tricks . I'm sure AI was part of the new toys on mixing
