Longing For Your Love

My first attempt at AI. I’ve always wanted to write in that early 60s girl group / doo-wop style, and this was a fun way to try it out since I don’t exactly have any female singers lying around. I’ve got about 5-6 songs done already. The AI made an interesting choice on this one actually, I didn’t ask it to give me the almost garage band-like minor key groove, but I think it turned out better that way than how I was envisioning it.

(v1)
Walking down the lonely streets, shadows on my face
Heart’s a little heavy, thoughts of your embrace
Moonlight in the distance, tears begin to flow
Wondering if you love me, wondering if you know

(v2)
Stars that shine so brightly, just like your sweet eyes
Every night I miss you, beneath these darkened skies
Dreaming of your kisses, dreaming of your touch
Wishing you were near me, oh, I miss you so much

(Chorus)
Longing for your love, can’t you see me waiting
In this timeless dance of hearts anticipating?
Lonely days go by, nights that never end
Until you come to me, my heart will never mend

(v3)
Every single heartbeat echoes in the night
Memories of you, they keep me holding tight
Whispers of your name softly on the breeze
Longing for your arms to put my mind at ease

(v4)
Sitting by the window, tracing in the air
Pictures of your smile, moments that we share
Hoping for a sign, hoping for a clue
Longing for the day when I’ll be back with you

(Chorus)

That was great, brilliant example of the genre. Very good for a first go, I've been doing it for months, not as good as yours.

    Constructive comment Tommy:

The chorus and verses are musically similar to my ear, (not a musician), with six sections, you run the risk of repetition, consider adding an instrumental break somewhere near the middle. Relatively easy in Suno, glad to help if you need it.

Overall, you should be well pleased with what you produced, I think it is extremely good.

  • @BeatlesFan64 Love the song through and through. Lyrically, I find it to be very cohesive and structurally intact as well as visual. And I love your logo and the name of your band; the way it rhymes.

    Nice to meet you,

    Renee

@sidshovel Thanks Sid. I agree with you that it drags a bit with so many verses back to back. In my later attempts, I did tell it to include instrumental parts, which I think improved the flow of those songs and made them less monotonous. The one frustrating thing about AI is that I can’t think of a way to tell it “do it exactly like that again, but add / change this”. Because I do really like this backing track. In fact, I kind of want to learn to play it myself.

But anyway, I appreciate the feedback and kind words. With how much experience you have with this, I know that means a lot. Thanks! Will probably post some of the others at some point.

@HummerWisdom Thank you Renee, it’s nice to meet you too, and I really appreciate that. You’re the first to comment on my band name too haha. Funny story about that, Tommy L. Day is just my first name, my last initial, and Day from Doris Day. Runaways was from the Del Shannon song. Anyways, thanks for commenting!
  • That came out really well. It's spot on for that style. Could easily be off a record of the era.

I haven't used AI for a while, but I think there is an option (at least on some platforms) to ask it to regenerate only within a given timeframe?

    Good stuff Tommy!
