Comin At Cha

“Chin on your shoulder”…It’s a great neck stretching exercise.  But also…it can give you a perspective on what might be “comin at cha” from the blind side...and there’s always something…

Feelings change but I didn’t see it

Love broke bad and it left me numb

I got down trying to find it again

There was nothin but crumbs

Where’d this crazy winter come from

Deep dark chill got me asking

When will the year get a little bit older

Now I got my chin on my shoulder

You keep your eyes up

You keep looking around

From Alabama up to Alaska

Something’s comin at cha

When I was young me and my friends

Got in the poison just for fun

One day we all looked around

There was nothing but crumbs

There’s a bad day headed your way

I heard a voice in my head say

I’m trying now just to get a little older

With my chin on my shoulder

There’s a hurricane headed your way

Can you feel it in the breeze today

Sneakin up from behind ya

Look what’s  comin at cha

There’s a train flyin down the track

Gonna run right up your back

Can’t say I didn’t warn ya

About what’s comin at cha

The past caught up while you were runnin

Bet you didn’t see that comin

From California to New Hampshire

Something’s comin at cha

  • Hi SF,

Yet again, the epitome of your genre and style, the superlatives are exhausted.

Which begs the question, what can you do outside your comfort zone.

I would love to hear you push that envelope of yours and come out with a slow ballad and make that guitar of yours gently weep.

    I wait in anticipation.

    nuff said,

    Sid

  • Anything to make you happy Sid. I'll post something a lil slower, more thoughtful, deeper, coming up.

  • Good song all around: lyrics, guitar, performance. "Nothin' but crumbs" is a great line.

  • Yep, the "Nothin but crumbs" line works. I'm less sure of "With my chin on my shoulder" that doesn't tell me as much, but overall there's a story and a message there.

Good rhythm to it, and very easy to listen to!

  • Count me in..I'm a fan of your music. I can imagine this song going down really well performed in a bar. Indeed it's very easy to listen to.

    Keep em comin'😀

  • I really like this lyric, StoneFlowers as it is timely. So much going on in a world on the brink. And I love your rhyme 'at cha with Alaska'; very unique and fresh. You're obviously awake which is half the battle. And I love your guitar playing, chugging along like something's 'comin' at cha'! Great Americana which is my favorite. Keep your light shining! Too funny, directly after your song Green Day's Good Riddance/Time of Your Life comes on....and the TRUTH always prevails.

And I just tried putting my chin on my shoulder as I have a stiff neck most of the time from physical labor. Had to lift up my shoulder a bit to do it but nice stretch, thanks! 😊

Looking forward to what else you got here on SWF,

    hummer
