From a Dream

I had this crazy dream one night. That somebody, out there somewhere, desperatley needed my help. Upon awakening next morn...this song basically wrote itself.

Last night from far away
I slept in a dream of you
You were hot and dry on the plains
You were shivering on a stormy ocean
Needing a touch and a whisper
Did you get the rain I sent you?
Did you warm in the sunshine I lit?
Did you feel the kiss I blew
From a dream I sent them to you
Then at once the scene had changed
You were locked away
Taken to a room full of grey
Striped of all your liberty
Needing a touch and a whisper
Did you see the hand I offered
To pull you back with me
I reached out and turned the key
Did you see the freedom
Freedom
The freedaummm
Ah freedom
The freedaummmmm I sent to you
From a dream
Break in G
Did you get my sunshine
Did you get my rain
A touch to heal the pain
I know you’re counting
Counting on me
For freedom
The freedaummm
Ahh freedom
The freedaummmmm I’ll send to you
From a dream

I like songs that write themselves. A dream or something in real life can kick start something. This is lovely. Some very nice guitar playing here and meandering vocals that tell the story. Very nice.😀

I can't connect with this one, and maybe that's because it was such a personal experience, and I just didn't have that dream!

Another gem, loved it, an absolute dream of a song.
Stick it on the pedestal with the rest.

I've noticed it in other songs you've posted as well, but on this one particularly your voice reminds me of Richard Thompson.
I like this song - especially the line "Then at once the scene had changed". Isn't that just how it goes. I find myself saying exactly that whenever I'm describing a dream to someone. So glad you captured it in a song.
The story is vague (like a dream), but it's clear from your singing and playing that it means something important to you.

High emotions reaching out in this one. Strong distinctive vocal, intimate at first then fuller with good dynamics. Really nice guitar playing in the intro, in the break and the outro. I enjoyed listening to this.
