The Devil Was A Outlaw Jesus Was A Saint

Verse 1

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint,

One lived in whiskey, one lived in restraint.

But I seen ‘em both ridin’ through the heart of this land,

One with a Bible, one with a gun in his hand.

Chorus

Ain’t much difference when you’re fightin’ for your name,

Between the man they curse and the man they praise.

We’re all just sinners tryin’ to find a way,

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint.

Verse 2

Mama tried to warn me ‘bout the lines in the sand,

Said “Son, pick your side — don’t you straddle that strand.”

But I walk that wire with a heart full of rust,

Half in redemption, half in the dust.

Chorus

Ain’t much difference when you’re fightin’ for your name,

Between the man they curse and the man they praise.

We’re all just sinners tryin’ to find a way,

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint.

Bridge

One turned water into wine,

The other turned peace into sin.

But I’ve seen ‘em both in the mirror sometimes,

Starin’ back at the shape I’m in.

Final Chorus

Ain’t much difference when you’re ridin’ that line,

Between savin’ souls and stealin’ time.

We’re all just wanderers, tryin’ to make it straight —

The devil was an outlaw, Jesus was a saint.

Outro (spoken or sung low)

Yeah, maybe I’m somewhere in between,

Just another ghost in the gasoline.

Well pretty much . To where I don't know . To another doctors appointment ? lol . We want to talk to you . No !!!

  • Magnífico trabajo!! I am impressed, thank yu for sharing with us so professional stuff!!! Me quito el sombrero! Elvis

  • ha ha ha , outlaw songs , thanks Mora

  • First off, nice song... But Jesus is Lord... not a saint.

You have some good stuff in there.

"One lived in whiskey, one lived in restraint."

And the ambiguity of this line is tempting:

"Ain’t much difference when you’re fightin’ for your name,

Between the man they curse and the man they praise.

  • Poetic license on saint

    Thanks

  • As a Catholic, I revoke your license.

    Let me see your papers!

  • I was a Catholic until I gained common sense about the invisible man in the sky

But who knows really , Lets just say Jesus is better than the devil

Be careful Elvis or you might accidentally make the devil seem cooler with all that outlaw stuff LOL. But seriously though, it’s great. There’s something so human about songs with conflicts like that. Love the vocals.

The devils always cooler in songs . The bad boy image and all that . it's not really the Biblical devil , Its americas branded devil , Devils hot rod shop , Love me like the devil tonight ect ect ect . its basically bad ass advertising using the devil , Devils perfume , Your not going to say Gods perfume. He's a brand .

    Thanks

  • That is really a great song
    Love the vibe
  • Yeah I like the outlaw stuff

    Thanks

  • Great song - agree with your comments re the branded "devil" vs Biblical devil -

I wonder if the tempo needs to increase a little bit - I hear it as a Willie and Waylon outlaw country song

Well thats done , Its a stolen melody from Suno. We just copied the robot . Thats happening alot now in Nashville. I took on a habit from Joe Cocker , Use your whole body to sing , its exhausting

    Thanks

  • Suno? But who/where did Suno steal it from? Hmm...I really don't think you need to do that.

Whatever, this is a great song. Joe Cocker - he grew up about 30 miles north of here and yeah, he sang with his whole body and soul. I remember watching him on TV at the end of the 60's and my grandma, rest her soul, reckoned he was possessed by the devil!! You do a pretty good job singing this one. I really enjoyed it.😀

Its no big deal , alot of pros in Nashville are doing that now , its just compromising in changes times in the music industry . Bottom line I pay for session players to complete the song . The robot is basically a demo . Then session players record it . Like I said thats being done alot in Nashville . Actually I was surprised there doing that , But Rick Beato informed me , its coming down to $ and cents. I guess it always is . . Possessed by the devil ? its probably complications from trauma in our lives . Were complicated creatures

  • I understand using AI to show what a band arrangement might be for a song.

I always upload my own music and lyrics and set SUNO to follow what I uploaded closely so it doesn't invent chords or melodies

My #1 SUNO complaint is why it has to do these show-offy guitar solos - really wish there was a toggle where I could just turn that off

  • Suno's output is based on an algorithm derived from sampled data. Suno doesn't invent chords or melodies. You could try to add in your style prompt words like - subtle guitars, no flashy guitar solos. Even that's hit and miss. :)

  • SUNO does sometimes change a vocal melody note - which really bugs me - mainly the AI musicians don't know how to give space when playing - also I've read SUNO does not take negative directions - if you write "no guitar solo" all it sees is "GUITAR SOLO"

  • I don't bother with all that , I use session players and sing it , robots are demos
