What is to be
What is to be
verse
We said, hello in the neon glow.
said goodbye at morning’s light.
There was no exchanging phone numbers.
no mention of a next time.
pre chorus
Loneliness is a dark street.
It's dangerous to walk alone.
Little did we know our fates;
would cross again down the road.
chorus
There would be an awkward smile.
but fate would not let us leave.
you can’t undo what is done.
you can’t fight what is to be.
verse
We stood talking in the midday sun.
not caring how hot it was.
I found her engaging and witty.
Found myself falling in love.
pre chorus
Loneliness is a dark street.
but somehow we found the light.
Little did we know this time.
we would begin a new life.
chorus
There would be an awkward smile
but fate would not let us leave.
You can’t undo what is done.
You can’t fight what is to be.
bridge
She said I’m sorry,I said so am I.
Perhaps we were both afraid.
to open our hearts and let someone in.
Perhaps we can find a way.
Tag
I’ll trust you if you’ll trust me.
We’ll accept what is to be.

Hi Carroll, Going a bit off Piste here but bear with.
I remember an Indiana Jones movie where the hero is trying to remove a statue off a pedestal without triggering a boobytrap. He fails and sets off a whole heap of traps that nearly kill him!
This song reminds me of that. A one night stand which, although not planned or expected, leads to something more profound and surprising.
It's the simplistic premise, probably familiar to thousands, that you can relate to. The same story played out in so many minds make this song special and heartwarming.
Thanks,
Sid
