Don the Parishioner
Here is a SUNO adaptation of one of the earliest digital recordings I have (link at bottom of post) - so early it is a room recording, not properly mixed.
I was going through a Bob Dylan phase, so I guess this is meant to have a Basement Tapes flavor (so I cued up Suno to sound like The Band).

DON THE PARISHIONER
[Verse 1]
She was sweet but fallen a little low
On the karmic wheel she was an albino black crow
With the wind at her beak and her beak on her back
She sent me sailin' home in a holy top hat
Doin' a tap dance and chittin' the chat
Sayin' all this etcetera and imagine that
[Chorus]
Tell it all to Don the Parishioner
When he comes ain’t no one gonna fear
Tell it all to Don the Parishioner
He only comes round every Chinese new year
[Instrumental]
[Verse 2]
He was a cannibal but eatin' some bread
I was just happy to be keeping my head
Blowin' my brain while washin' my mind
I feel like Einstein back in roman times
I may be a gambler while I skate on a dime
Ain't nothing doin' cause I’m wastin' my rhymes
[Chorus]
Tell it all to Don the Parishioner
When he comes ain't no one gonna shove
Tell it all to Don the Parishioner
He put a knife in the hand of a dove
[Instrumental]
[Bridge]
So whats it all mean this hear machine
I hear it means something but words are getting lean
Shootin' the shit while parsin' phrases in bed
She took all of us in and made us eat soup with no bread
She’ll run away tomorrow with Don in her purse
And as I watch from my window I’ll sing them a curse
[Chorus]
Tell it all to Don the parishioner
When he comes ain't no one gonna fear
Tell it all to Don the parishioner
Only comes around every Chinese New Year

I like the original better, but that's me ;).. catchy melody either way ..

Certainly got those abstract / highly interpretive lyrics like Dylan. Not sure what it is saying though! Maybe it's one just to relax into and hear rather than try to understand.
