My Life Sucks and Nobody Cares

Hello out there in SongLand!

This chorus came along 5 or so years ago. Been going back to the drawing board on and off over those past several years and as simple as this version came out, I think it suffices. This is meant to be a tongue-in-cheek, whimsical tune so have fun with it! Any suggestions are welcome.

MY LIFE SUCKS AND NOBODY CARES

[Verse 1]

Got no money in the bank

Got no honey to thank

It’s just me an’ my hound dog, Lucy Rose

Watchin’ ‘em fall; dominoes

[Chorus]

My life sucks and nobody cares

My life sucks and nobody cares

They’d rather I lie than to hear me cry

My life sucks and nobody cares

[Verse 2]

Stuck here, pushin’ this mop

Any second, I could drop

Don’t pin it on me I’m just the maid

Ain’t no made in the shade

[Verse 3]

When my telephone rings

Just misery it brings

Some two-bit scammer on the other end

Man, I could sure use a friend

[Chorus]

My life sucks and nobody cares

My life sucks and nobody cares

They’d rather I lie than to hear me cry

My life sucks and nobody cares

do-do-do, do-do…do do-do-do, do-do

[Verse 4]

Recalling those brighter days

My brother an’ me how we played

Now, I have no clue if he’s dead or alive

Goin’ mad is a short drive

[Verse 5]

Now, the days are racing by

Nightfall, I wonder why

Wonder why God keeps me here at all ?

Three days and He ain’t called

[Chorus]

My life sucks and nobody cares

My life sucks and nobody cares

They’d rather I lie than to hear me cry

My life sucks and nobody cares

[Chorus]

My life sucks and nobody cares

My life sucks and nobody cares

They’d rather I lie than to hear me cry

My life sucks and nobody cares

My life sucks and nobody cares

My life sucks and nobody cares!

  • LOL.....Funny song.

    Good one.

BTW, I care. Let's go fishing!

  • Wow that sucks being this person , Sounds great , I agree lets go fishing

  • I think you're on the right route with a tongue-in-cheek, whimsical tune. As a song for other people to enjoy, people are more interested in something they can relate to, or imagine themselves in. So more general, more comedic and less autobiographical is probably better for that path

Of course sometimes we just want to get things off of our chest and down into song. If you just want to blow off steam, then go the opposite direction. Tell it exactly as it is in your life.

Kind of depends who you are writing for in this one.

  • Thank you for your kind thoughts, guys. I believe more people can relate to this than not; sad as it seems. I tried to keep it somewhat light but I can tell you this: since the scamdemic, lots of broke and lonesome folks out there. So, there's that.

    Appreciate you taking the time,

    Renee

Lyrics we can relate to on some level.

Always room for a good fun song, plenty of room for this.

  • What I meant was that they don't all have a dog called Lucy Rose or work as a maid, not that they wouldn't understand about struggle and difficulty. So for instance if you say "my dog" they can put their own dog into that space, but if you say "Lucy Rose" it's definitely not their dog. Again, that's neither wrong nor right, it depends on what you're going for. Trust your instincts.

It's a good point you make RDM and in the majority of cases, I would most definitely agree.

In a lot of fun songs however, I think there are exceptions. Take Mr Bean for instance, we laugh at him, not with him, simply because we would never put ourselves in his position.

    Food for thought.

  • Arrrrorrrahrahrahrarara ruff, hauhauhau! Translation, "you're lucky from your head to your toes, you got your dog Lucy Rose"

  • @RainyDayMan but ALL dogs have a NAME, lol! 😍

  • There's a school of thought that in this type of song you should be as specific as you can with details - the dog's name, for instance. The more of this information you give, the more real the picture painted by the song. I think I agree with that.

A fun song. The simple repetitive chorus is just the kind of thing folks like to sing along to.

I have a "My life sucks" kinda song. Maybe I'll post it here 😄

I know you said it's fun and whimsical, but like they say, there is always a little truth in the sarcasm. There have been times I have felt this same way about the daily grind of it all. I wonder if you ever tried saying no one cares, instead of nobody? It seems to flow better to me but it's not my song. The music is what does make it fun though. I feel kinda strange saying this, but I enjoyed hearing about your struggles, not that you're struggling, but the song was enjoyable.
