Hope is a Flame - AI music

I haven't been doing much AI generation lately, but this kind of power ballad is beyond me, whereas Suno seems to have done quite well with it. Except for the ending where it cut it short, so the very final chord is me.

[Verse]

Sometimes the world is grey

Shadows grow long, but the light never fades away

A gleam from a distant shore

Reminds me that there's always something more

[Lift]

Beyond the horizon

The sun still shines on

[Chorus]

Hope is a flame that bends but won't break

When the winds of fate blow hard

Flickers and wanes, but still it remains,

A light in the deepest dark

Hope is a flame

[Verse 2]

You’ve been walking this road so long,

Searching for space, a place where you belong.

Lift your eyes to the edge of night,

Beyond the darkness to where your dreams lie.

[Lift]

[Chorus]

[Bridge]

When the night feels endless, and the stars are all gone,

When the weight of the world makes you feel you’re alone,

Remember there's a fire that no storm can claim—

Hope is a flame

[Chorus]

Outstanding piece of work. Well crafted within Suno. Ai is taking you out of your comfort zone but at the same time opening up a whole new vista for your lyrical expertise.

Lyric-wise, one of your best, highly enjoyable.

Care to share the prompt, I collect good ones.

  • @bhengen Thanks for listening and commenting Bill, appreciated.

@sidshovel Wish I had a secret prompting strategy to give you! I just got lucky with "Piano power ballad", there's no secret sauce I'm afraid, all down to the whims of Suno.

    @RainyDayMan

Thank you, your information adds to the recipe that suggests the simpler the prompt, the better the quality of output. You will get less variety but better quality to choose from. Conversely, the more descriptive the prompt, the bigger the range of output but far inferior quality to choose from.

One other piece of info, if you don't mind, how many credits did it take to get the one you chose?

    Thanks,

    Sid

P.S. Noticed you used [lift] in a couple of places, great to see Suno responded and the effect it had, came out well I thought and worth noting for others to include.

  • I did 2 attempts x 2 tracks, and this was the fourth one generated. So I think that's 40 credits? It was using v4.0 of Suno too, but I'm only on the free plan, so I'll run out of those real quick!

The v.4 is far superior to 3.5, I'll be switching from Udio to Suno in May, Udio has given up the ghost, I'm afraid.

Remember two accounts give you twice the credits and you can transfer the same song between accounts.

What's up man , Yeah that AI does a good job

Nice job on this , Always good on a positive song

its only $10.00 a month for a billion tracks , I use it as a tool for live players . V4 is the latest , I'm sure it will up to V5 in no time

  • Thanks Elvis, yes AI is progressing at a rate of knots.

Wow, so beautifully written and created by AI. I guess I'm going to give up on the primitive and pure singer song writer thing I've been trying to hold on to. That crazy notion that just me and a guitar and my voice and a novel story idea were the right way to create a song, the old Dylan concept. And all those other singer song writers that shaped and molded my style and creativity. 10 bucks a month? Ok I give up. Getting tired of the guitar any way. Great song RDM.

  • @StoneFlowers There's still room for all kinds of music. The world would be a poorer place if you stop writing and playing!

But there's no way I could perform a song like this one, even if I wrote the music, so I think there's room for AI as a tool as well.

Beautiful lyrics Owen, the music is a nice marriage to them as well. One thing I've noticed on Suno if you use the prompts [Intro] before lyrics, and [Outro] after your lyrics it helps to keep it from starting or stopping abruptly.

  • Great lyrics Owen..I haven't heard the AI. @StoneFlowers Whatever you do, don't waste 10 bucks a month! Buy some new strings, a pack of beer..anything!

    Use this

    [outro]

    [Fade to End]

    [intro]

Mmmm, Mmmmm, (anything will do as long as it is something before the start of the lyrics)

I'm not saying musicians should embrace Ai, far from it. What I do say, is musicians shouldn't deny non-musicians the simple joy of hearing their lyrics set to music. Musicians who want to use Ai as an extension of their existing digital toolbox should be able to do so without any criticism from others. You have your opinion, they have their rights. At the end of the day, it's all just music.

  • This thread is for comments on my song. General comments go in the general discussion area.

  • @RDM nice writing and the AI brought it to life very well done I enjoyed listening too .
  • @RainyDayMan So very pretty through and through. Especially love your Lift as well as your Bridge. Music matches your lyric seamlessly. Really needed to hear a song as such so full of light and hope, thank you! And I love your chorus, too!

I would suggest that you don't give up on ANY way to write songs. There are songs that work best with just a guitar and a voice, and there are songs that demand more. Being able to tell the difference is the real talent. It is my opinion that you are far too talented at what you are currently doing to just quit doing it. Adding new methods and paths is a great opportunity. . . but you don't have to quit doing anything to follow new paths. AND. . . my own (growing) experience with A.I. is telling me that there are some things A.I. does well, and some limitations. (That's my judgement in the CURRENT STATE of what I'm hearing. . . but of course, subject to change.) My advice is to write the best stuff you can in as many ways as you can write it.

Loved the entirety of the song from the lyrics to the instrumental to the prosody between them. I have a question. Is that the A.I. vocal, or is it your vocal, your lyrics, and only the instrumental is from A.I. ???

  • @Hardtwistmusic Glad you liked it! The lyrics are from me, all the music (melody, instrumentation, vocal) is from AI.
