Anything not to feel

Verse

I feel like I’m still at war.

See things I shouldn’t have seen.

Wake up in a cold sweat crying

Reliving a battle scene.

Pre chorus

I’m running from my feelings

Don’t want them catching me

I don’t need the confusion.

Don’t need those chains on me.

Chorus

Give me a heart made out of stone

Make it as hard as steel.

I’d give anything, anything

Anything not to feel.

Verse

I’ve had this damn heart broken

I know how bad it can feel.

There’s no need to keep replaying

All those sad home movie reels.

Pre chorus

I’m running from my feelings

Don’t want them catching me

I don’t need the confusion.

Don’t need those chains on me.

Chorus

Give me a heart made out of stone

Make it as hard as steel.

I’d give anything, anything

Anything not to feel.

Bridge

Cut out my conscience with a knife.

Then maybe my soul can heal.

Give me a heart made out of stone.

Anything so I don’t feel.

Deep an' dark. No punches pulled with this one,

Some nice rhymes an' lines in there Carroll.

One thought maybe change "hard as steel" to "cold as steel"

removes the conflict with stone and steel.

A lot of emotion built into this, raw and painful.

    Good piece.

  • thanks
  • Great chorus! Real punch to it.

    I liked this too:

There’s no need to keep replaying

All those sad home movie reels.

    and this one as well

Cut out my conscience with a knife.

Good choice for the style of music, works a treat.

    Good song.

  • Appreciate it
  • 😓

Wouldn't change a thing @carroll . Pain alone can make one feel like not feeling so this is highly relatable even without the story-line. Love the change vocally and musically on the line: "Cut out my conscience with a knife".

Always look forward to your stuff,

    Renee
