lyrics SS music/vocals Ai

Two sociopaths I came across in the late sixties, these two characters worked all week just so they could go out and fight at the weekends, that's all they lived for.

[verse 1]

The working week had ended, the boys were dressing for a Friday night,

Their hair cut short and jeans pressed sharp. they were gunning for a fight

The pair agreed to meet up, at a bar were they normally drank

The manager gave them discount drinks, he was scared of Joey and Frank

[chorus]

Weekend warrriors looking for a scrap

A broken nose and the beer on tap

Fists large and bloodied, like a cold ham shank

No one picked a fight with Joey and Frank

[verse 2]

It all kicked off about half past ten, rival fans of a soccer team

Their side had lost by six goals and were looking to let off steam

Joey stood at the bar, having a friendly chat with some skank,

A drunken fan thought he'd chance his luck, behind him he never saw Frank

[chorus]

Weekend warriors looking for a scrap

A broken nose and the beer on tap

Fists large and bloodied, like a cold ham shank

No one picked a fight with Joey and Frank

[verse 3]

The bottle smashed against his ear, pieces scattered on the floor

Joeys elbow broke his nose, people screamed and ran for the door

The guys mates joined in the melee, behind the counter the barman shrank

Glasses flew, and bodies fell, back to back stood Joey and Frank

[chorus]

Weekend warriors looking for a scrap

A broken nose and the beer on tap

Fists large and bloodied, like a cold ham shank

No one picked a fight with Joey and Frank

[verse 4]

Lights came on, the police burst in, everyone lined up against the wall

"Take them down the station," the sergeant roared, "throw them in the tank."

The barkeep closed the cellar door before the cop came round the counter

The louts were waved off down the road by the grinning Joey and Frank

[chorus]

Weekend warriors looking for a scrap

A broken nose and the beer on tap

Fists large and bloodied, like a cold ham shank

No one picked a fight with Joey and Frank

[outro]

Be safer to rob a bank

Than pick a fight

with Joey and Frank

Man that's quite the story, Sid. Lyrics kind of remind me of Don't Mess Around With Jim, but Joey and Frank were just on another level haha. Definitely would not want to mess around with them. Before I even played the track, I was thinking country rock, and I'm glad to see my instincts were right. Something about that style definitely works for these rough and tumble kinds of songs. Nice work!

    @BeatlesFan64,

The scary thing about these two was they would seem normal until they started talking about their great weekend.

Can't recall ever seeing them without cuts and bruises on their face and hands. Pure evil!

  • @sidshovel - That's funny and scary at the same time.. perfect lyrics, really well put together..

  • It makes for a grand story, but I don't think I'd want to meet them!

Long ago when I was at Uni I met up with a guy I'd known in high school. He cheerfully invited me to come out basing up gays on Friday night with him. I declined.

Don't tell me, too busy washing your hair!

It's scary knowing that there are actually people like that out there walking around.
