Talkin' To The Birds
Well, yesterday was an interesting day here at TSF with Iron's thought-provoking song, so thought I'd lighten it up a bit with this little birdie ditty. I love birds and I love writing songs which include them. Was walking my dog when I saw two doves on the wire overhead and the opening line came as I shouted, 'hello, little birdies' to them. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and any feedback is appreciated.

TALKIN’ TO THE BIRDS
Well, I might as well be talkin’ to the birds
At least, then there’s no mincin’ words
‘Cuz when it comes to you an’ me
All we do is disagree
And I might as well be talkin’ to the birds
And I might as well be walkin’ up the creek
Now, I know the meanin’ of up sh*t’s creek
‘Cuz when it comes to my money
You just take it all from me
And I might as well be walkin’ up the creek
Do-do-do-do-do-do, do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do-do-do-do, do-do, do-do-do
‘Cuz when it comes to my money
You just take it all from me
And I might as well be walkin’ up the creek
And I might as well be slippin’ down the slide
‘Cuz livin’ with you, honey ain’t no joyride
‘Cuz all you do is piss an’ moan
And then you moan an’ you groan
And I might as well be slippin’ down the slide
Do-do-do-do-do-do, do-do, do-do-do
Do-do-do-do-do-do, do-do, do-do-do
Yeah, all you do is piss an’ moan
And then you moan an’ you groan
And I might as well be slippin’ down the slide
Hey, little birdie, what’s the good word?
I said, Hey! Little birdie, what’s the good word?
You’re as free as you can be
Givin’ hope to humantity
Hey, little birdie, what’s the good word?
Yes, I might as well be talkin’ to the birds
At least, then there’s no mincin’ words
‘Cuz when it comes to you an’ me
All we do is disagree
And I might as well be talkin’
I might as well be talkin’
Yeh, I might as well be talkin’ to the birds.

@HummerWisdom - you have an interesting idea of what a love song is :)... this sounds like somebody tired of their mate :) or did I miss the point, which is likely :)

Reminds me a lot of Arlo Guthrie. Bill has a point, at times it swings from one direction to another, slightly confusing but a good song nevertheless with an excellent performance. I enjoyed it.
Well done.

I like it. A relationship song rather than a love song, but it sure feels on point!
I like your opening line "Well, I might as well be talkin’ to the birds" - it feel really natural and sets up the song.
And the chords and music fit nicely to it.
Good job, Renee.

Hey there Hummer....
The first verse:
"I might as well be talkin’ to the birds
At least, then there’s no mincin’ words
‘Cuz when it comes to you an’ me
All we do is disagree
And I might as well be talkin’
I might as well be talkin’
Yeh, I might as well be talkin’ to the birds."
Is awesome. I love it. In fact, it would make a superb chorus.
You have some great stuff in there. Again, that first verse is gold!

Very cute song, and not just because I love birds too. A great old timey folk vibe to it, especially with the repeated beginning of each verse's first line: "I might as well be..." The melody fits the lyric like a glove.
A couple of lines that didn't work quite as well for me as the rest:
"At least, then there’s no mincin’ words." This suggests that the birds are not holding back and unloading on you. Those are rude birds lol. I'm not sure that this fits with the following lines and verses, which suggest that the man in question fits this pattern to tee. So, where's the contrast implied by "at least?" Maybe something like "They make more sense than you 'n they don't know any words."
"Shit's creek" should really be "Shit Creek." It's a tribute to the great TV show that people might actually start getting the original expression wrong. That's the way language changes, but I'm not sure we're there yet.
Nice one!
