Besides the obvious profits made by all involved including the politicians, I sometimes think they look at it as thinning out the herd of those less desirable people as a positive side effect. Nice writing

The vast majority of people who died from drug overdoses connected with taking Oxycontin were ordinary Joes.
Most were prescribed Oxy to treat chronic pain and assured it was non-addictive, till it was too late.
None of the Sackler family have been indicted for any crime assosciated with Oxy.

You hit the nail on the head with these lyrics Sid. Living in North Alabama, I can relate. I had a few friends and acquaintances who are in the ground because of opioids and meth. I have rheumatoid arthritis and the pain management place I go to offered me opioids. but I turned them down. So, I'll now be getting medical cannabis which will be in pill form once our state legislature gets the law implemented. I can't wait for that! Again, excellent song my friend.

I wish I never had to write songs like this Toney, I really do. But saying nothing is ten times worse.
I've followed this story for years and watched as the Sacklers have used billions to get themselves off the hook.
In all that time the one common denominator in this scandal was politicians looking the other way.
When families were burying their loved ones, politicians took the Sacklers money for campaign funding.
I make no apologies for going after those people.

You ain't kidding @sidshovel all the dirty deals done behind closed doors by the appointed, NOT the elected. Sad song but true. I saw that movie about the Sacklers as well. They made a KILLING $$$ and then they got fined a drop in the bucket. Happens all the time. The fines, to them are just the cost of doing business.
I'm a homeopathic gal myself; try to do for me health as much as possible the natural way, tho' on bad days I do pop an Aleve or two for my arthritis. I hate it when I do that to myself but I'm not a masochist! The biggest drug dealers there are is the government and Big Pharm; very good bedfellows. Really enjoyed your lyric and now for a listen.... I like the music but I gotta agree with Rainy Day.
