Mirror's Reflection
This song is about a guy, say in his early 60's, looking into a mirror one morning, and has an existential crisis of sorts. Partly inspired by listening to pink floyd piper at the gates of dawn, Partially, because to match syd barrett's musical genius, would require me to fry my brain on acid.. I sat on this for a few days as one of the lines, didn't make sense, until I listened to Stupify by Distburbed, which is - My narrow scope of reality? Thought that a brilliant line..
Oh, and yes, I know the line is - I think, therefore, I am... - but to me think has different connotation, so I changed it to exist...
At first wasn't 100% fond of the music but then grew on me the more I listened. it scratched an itch in my brain

[Verse 1]
I wake up, roll out of bed,
Flee the shadows in my head
I gaze deep into the mirror
And I don't like what I see.
If I become, he and he, me
Alter my scope of reality
[Verse 2]
I climb into the world of silver
And float on the circular river
Turbulent sense of true self
Always hidden from ourselves
Is the mirror's reflection a lie
Or truth before our two eyes
[Chorus]
"I exist; therefore, I am,
Or to be or not to be,
All questions of the mind,
And if questions are keys,
Then what it is to be?"
[Verse 3]
My mind opens, he jumps inside
Searching where my being resides
Where it's located isn't exact
But me being is still a fact
I smell, see, touch, taste, hear
I have a sense if identity clear
With butterfly wings I fly free
[Bridge]
Mired in conflicting possibilities
Am i the butterfly or is he me
If have become the butterfly
Then dreamer or dream that flies
[Chorus]
"I exist; therefore, I am,
Or to be or not to be,
All questions of the mind,
And if questions are keys,
Then what it is to be?"

Just clicked on the song; love the Twilight Zone feeling! Or, at least that's how it struck me! Mesmerizing through and through to say the least. I can't comment much on the lyric as I'm not so poetic but seems to make sense in all of its' brilliance and certainly a great match for the music.
Truly,
Renee

@HummerWisdom - thanks for the comment, Renee, truly appreciate it.. theymusic does match. .again, I realize that this and my other song, won't resonate with everybody.. this song is more geared towards the progressive rock scene, which is limited.

Too much left field for my old years Bill, I'll leave it for more atuned listeners to comment on the details.
Interesting structure to the lyrics though, verses 1 + 2, 6 lines and verse 3 with 7, coupled with chorus of 5 lines, very different.
Thanks for sharing

I like that you push the boundaries and show wide the possibilities are.
I think the music came out very well indeed on this one. I certainly enjoyed it.

@RainyDayMan - Thanks owen.. i really appreciate your input.. it's fine line of being too clever and overusing metaphors and telling a story. or as my sister put it, too clever for my own good :)

I enjoyed the lyrics. Enough imagery and mystery to be compelling and able to relate to similar thoughts. I am a sucker for vague cryptic lyrics. Nicely done!

I am masquerading as a productive employee right now so I can't play the music yet, but I am so looking forward to doing so. As a man of a certain age, I can already relate to the lyrics.
