Lyrics:

I said I love you

And you said goodbye

I don't care

And I don't cry

Cause I'm up there

And I'm feeln' all right

And I'm really wild

And I'm up all night

I don't care what the people say

I'm all right

I used to like windy days

Now I'm in a haze

Cause I'm up there

Feeln' all right

I'm wild

And I'm up all night

I don't care what the people say

I'm all right

Did you ever wonder why

You can't touch the sky?

And it's comin' soon

  • I like the doubled vocals on this one. You might be better sticking with either the hard panned style or the more central panning, but switching between them is a bit distracting.

There seems to be more reverb on the vocal than the guitar, and it might feel more cohesive if they were of similar strength - more like a live recording

    Classic Robwills style!

  • Thanks for listening. The reason for the "reverb" on the vocal is that the vocals were louder and therefore picked up the previous vocal track(s) when I overdubbed without using headphones. Your suggestions of keeping it central or panned on one side is definitely something I will do next time. Probably central for all future recordings.

How the rock greats panned some instruments and vocals on one side is just as magnificent and impossible as everything else they did. In Van Halen recordings the guitar is almost always on one side yet sounds all encompassing. I never realized this until I started listening to all the great music of the 70 and 80's with good headphones. Amazing.

    "I said I love you,

    And you said Goodbye.

    I Don't care,

And I won't cry." Now THAT is saying a LOT with very few words. Great lyric.

Interesting music, love the opening lines, keep em coming.

It seems to me the line should be "I'm up here" instead of "I'm up there."
