Misery Loves Company

My latest AI adventure. Went the 1940s route with this one. Try to picture it in one of those old film noir movies, in a seedy jazz bar, with the cabaret singer in the background while the characters are making heist plans, or talking about how they're gonna give Little Johnny the ol' shakedown, or maybe it's the part where the lead and the femme fatale meet. something like that.

Lyrics by Tommy L. Day, music and vocals by AI

[verse 1]

Why do you sit there, darlin’, lookin’ so sad and blue?

Seems like someone’s done it, broken your heart in two

Don’t try to deny it, don’t try to hide it, open your heart to me

Cause misery loves company

[verse 2]

You see, honey, you’re not the only one who’s feelin’ down

My no-good fella’s been lyin’, seein’ all the girls ‘round town

So don’t try to deny it, don’t try to hide it, open your heart to me

Cause misery loves company

[bridge]

Say baby, I’ve got a swell idea

As long as you and I are here

Let’s take a chance on something new

Let me be the one to love you

[verse 3]

Being lonely ain’t so bad, when you’re lonely as a pair

You can tell me anything, all your sorrows I will share

So don’t try to deny it, don’t try to hide it, open your heart to me

Cause misery loves company

  • Sounds like big bands in the 40ties , Amazing what AI can do for pennies , good song man

  • Wow! This came out brilliantly! I love it.

Definitely a change in style for you, but you've nailed it.

"Cause misery loves company" is a great phrase, but honestly the whole thing just works in that style.

Well done Tommy, another period master piece, love the big band sound, so good.

If anything, it could have gone on another 30 secs longer, more of the big band in the middle?

    Great song,

    Sid

  • Enjoyed your song very much, Tommy! I like that it's conversational and the music fit the lyric perfectly.

    Write on,

    Renee
